I was so mad that called them on the phone and they quoted me $19.95 for the service call. Beyond that they indicated it would be $25.00 max for a simple lock. Now this lock is a trailer barrel lock that does not require a difficult unlock.. When the locksmith that came out finished he came up with a bill for $74.00. THis is almost double the origianl price quoted. This is bad business and i hope you all never go through this but I will never call them again for this. Terrible business practices. I have been going to A-1 Income Tax for the past 5 years. I have a fairly complicated return with 2 incomes and 2 businesses. I have never been disappointed by the service I have received at A-1. They have superior customer service and have saved my lots of money for a great price.\t\n\t\nI was shocked to see negative reviews about this company as I know that in addition to being great tax preparers, that these ladies are above reproach ethically and would bend over backwards to help a client. This is not to say that they are incapable of making a mistake but, I know for sure they would do whatever possible to rectify it. The bad reviews sound a little personal. We have used A&E for two years. Will not be using them again. Both years our CTP was not responsive -- would disappear until the day before taxes were due, and not respond to numerous emails or phone calls. This year, at 9pm the night before our taxes were due, we get a message from Mary, who tells us that she needs another two weeks. When I called and asked why they didn't notify us earlier, or respond to any of our numerous voicemails or emails, she started yelling at me, telling me she hadn't slept more than a few hours for the past week and our taxes were just going to have to be late. I think it's inexcusable to leave a client hanging like that and then tell them only the night before a deadline that they are unable to deliver on their promise. It's not like Mary only had a few more hours of work and just missed the filing deadline. She asked for two more weeks, which means she wasn't even close to getting our taxes done, yet literally waited until the very last minute to let us know. If you want to turn all of your private information over to someone who will not answer your phone calls or emails, and then not even get things done in the end, sure go with A&E. If you actually want to know what is going on and get your taxes done on time, I would look elsewhere. ...read more

Because of apparently inadequate, professional and superficial advice regarding my tax liabilities from My Tax Man, I have had to get my first ever, and only, home equity loan to cover my income taxes this year. We have gone to A&E for years for both our corporate books and our personal returns. I think people might be misunderstanding Michael's sense of humor. He can be gruff or blunt, but personally I kind of want to have a no-nonsense interaction with the person handling my taxes. And they've always been responsive when I've called or emailed. I'm only knocking off a star because occasionally I have to remind them about something that needs to get done. As for the negative reviews on this site, here's my theory. When I've done something wrong in Quickbooks or misunderstand a tax or accounting rule, Michael will say flat-out "Hey. Knock it off." Which might rub other people the wrong way. So I wonder how many artists (not a group known for fastidious record-keeping) react poorly when someone at A&E gives them a candid assessment of their tax and accounting situation... ...read more

Steve has prepared our taxes for over 20 years and the service is outstanding! He has always answered questions clearly. When the IRS had questions he answered them and sent the letter the next day. We are very happy and the price is reasonable. They send forms every year to get needed information. We fill them out, have 15 minute appointment, they are done ina few days. If there was a choice for zero stars, thats what I would select. Here is a group of folks who are not concerned with building long lasting customer relationships by providing good customer service, but are concerned with charging upwards of $600 for a 2 person houshold with fairly simple taxes. And if you are confused or have a question...forget about it....they either won't help you or just look at you like you're an idiot.
