My children beg to go here. I agree. We walk through the door and immediately smile. We are greeted warmly and then we set to work building a masterpiece. The FroYo selections are wonderful - better than any place I've visited in OR or CA. The toppings are second to none! Fresh, huge variety, unique. It's a must stop when we have visitors. ...read more

Bella Organic Farm
By powder911 at Citysearch September 17, 2011
Bella Organic Farms is out on beautiful Sauvie Island, but there is nothing beautiful about the farm or my experience there. I usually go to the actual Pumpkin Patch (Bella's neighbors just beyond their driveway), but I decided to give their new farm a try. BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!! Service was lousy, the employees were extremely rude, and the quality of their products was horrible. One of the worst things to happen on my visit was while my child was in their bounce house another child vomited in the structure. When I told an employee about the vomit, they were very put off by me telling them what happen. I immediately removed my child from the bounce house, and kept an eye on the employee I told the matter to. It took him 30 minutes to clean up the vomit, and when he did he only wiped it up. He didn't do any disinfecting. YUCK!!!!!! We did go through their corn "maze". What a joke, it was more of a corn path. No wrong turns. We were in and out within minutes. I mentioned earlier about their product quality, I spent almost $30 in produce to have them all spoil with in a day. This was my worst farm experience ever, and I will never go back, and I would tell everyone to not waste their time at this farm and go to one of Sauvie Island's many other farms. ...read more

Gartner's Country Meat Market

Start with a couple pounds of their marinated short ribs. Add some burgers and their hand made German wieners, and you've got the perfect barbecue!\t\nOr, you could start with some baby backs, and add a couple steaks or some stuffed chops. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water! \t\nI've been going to Gartner's for many years and have NEVER been disappointed. Sometimes it gets crowded because everyone wants their 'Q to be perfect, but the friendly, expert service is worth the wait!\t\nAnd my dog LOVES their double smoked bones! Just say Gartner's, and he shakes his tail! ...read more

I'd been to places like this in the Portland area, and this one has so many more options than anything I'd seen before! More flavors, A LOT more toppings, very unique ones as well, and the prices were much better than I was used to. 3.50 instead of 5-6 dollars like I was expecting. I'd suggest this anytime. <3 Really fun place in downtown to go for a snack. ...read more

This is such a great topic of discussion! Is this stuff really healthy? Be sure to look for whole milk products in this stuff and probiotic cultures, too. Frozen Yogurt is fun but not really a health food! And be sure to take care of those choppers! Sugar residue can cause dental decay...brush after eating...and.. a quick aside - there is no parking for this place....not an easy to find spot... ...read more

My experience at the Tartberry was delightful after spending the morning at Multnomah County Court House! I stepped out of the gray rainy skies of Portland into a shop full of vibrant color that brought a smile to my face. I suffer from low bone density and frozen yogurt is a delicious food that provides a high content of calcium. The sugar free flavors are just as delicious as any of the other frozen yogurts so I can add one of the toppings and still keep within my calorie count for the day. I can't wait to bring my granddaughter to share the experience. ...read more

How To Store Coffee To Preserve Its Fresh Quality Flavor And Aroma
You need to know a little about coffee and how it gets it flavor in order to know understand how to store coffee to preserve it's freshness.Coffee Flavor When coffee is freshly roasted, the oils are noticeable on the beans. Most of the flavor is contained within this oil which is also responsible for the dark and oily color on the roasted beans. When these oils come in contact with air, light, heat and moisture, the flavor and aroma begin to deteriorate. These are the enemies of roasted coffee beans. Coffee beans, at room temperature, undergo chemical change and emit carbon dioxide. Air oxidizes the beans and makes them go stale very quickly. Moisture, such as what the coffee beans are exposed to in freezing, will decrease the flavor as long as it is exposed to it. The oils collected on the skin of the beans get hardened and crack due to freezing. To make matters worse, ground coffee deteriorates much faster than whole beans do. With more surface area exposed to the air, the more likely it will become stale if not consumed within a week. Storing Coffee To preserve the flavor intact for longer periods it should be stored fresh which is imperative. Coffee containers should be kept away from air and moisture. Coffee should never be stored in the freezer. With the development of packaging industry, packing of coffee in air tight bags was started. In fact the process of roasting includes cleaning, roasting, cooling, grinding and packaging. Although vacuum and nitrogen injection packaging was introduced to slow down the deterioration process, once the packages were opened the process of getting stale could not be controlled. To have a longer life of coffee, once the coffee package has been opened, it should be immediately transferred to an airtight container and stored at room temperature. Whole beans are the preferred choice for keeping it fresh and brewing. Not only will whole beans have a longer shelf life, one should only grind enough coffee as will be used. Grinding your coffee as you use it will give you the flavor and the aroma that you want from your coffee. The National Coffee Association of U.S.A. recommends that coffee pods and beans be stored in airtight glasses or ceramic containers in a dark and cool place. If the coffee is in large quantity, they should be packed in a number of small airtight bags. Boca Java Coffee Club Gevalia Free Coffee Maker Illy Coffee Discount Illy Coffee Delivery ...read more
