Im not dumb, I wasn't high or drunk. Manager says others complained too but he watched it himself and it was in 3D.\t\nOutright lie. Talked to me and my GF like we were expecting too much. Previews showed 3D effect just fine, there wasn't a difference wearing glasses or not. Did not offer refund.\t\n\t\n2 tickets in 3D = $28!\t\nNO stadium seating\t\nTINY screen\t\nNEVER again\t\nHarold and Kumar in 3D 11/12/2011 7:30PM showing. ...read more

We ordered a vegan hamburger (no fries or any sides included) for $7 that tasted bland and was the size (and about the same flavor) of a white castle microwavable hamburger. Yes, it was vegan, but I've had better vegan food in Birmingham, Alabama. The door girl at the venue had a terrible "better than you" attitude and ignored us for several minutes after we walked up to her. When we finally got into the venue the sound system sounded as if all the speakers were blown and was cranked way beyond what was appropriate for the small space. I will never return to this venue for a show, drink, meal, or to use their dirty bathrooms. There are so many better places to see a show or eat in Portland. ...read more

Hawthorne Theatre

I guess this is the karaoke bar next door to Hawthorne Theatre, as I could not find any specific signage about it. The place is not too crowded and has a semi-decent sound system. Lyrics display is a CRT, so it's bright and sharp. They have late-night canned food menu (beef stew variants). I don't drink alcohol so can't comment on the quality of drinks. \t\nHowever I don't recommend going here for 2 reasons. At the entrance there's a security guard doing pat-downs. WTH kind of business is this that searches its patrons' pockets? No thanks, I'l go elsewhere next time.\t\nAnother thing is there's no toilet! U have to go to Fred Meyer across the street (closes at 11 PM). Hawthorne music venue has a restroom but of course they won't let u in past the ticketing station unless u have a ticket. Just ridiculous. The karaoke bar has a tiny "poker room" that's really too small for card games (unless u play solitaire) but would be perfect for a restroom. \t\n ...read more

Greener Event Lighting

Cut your power bills AND help reduce your carbon footprint by switching to LED (Light Emitting Diode), HID (High Intensity Discharge), and other low-energy lighting sources.   Hollywood Lighting now offers over 15 different low energy lighting alternatives for event lighting, including exciting LED color mixing fixtures, clear LED wash lights, LED black lights, LED dancefloor effects, and even well-known stage lighting fixtures that use HID light sources.   • Super-efficient LED fixtures operate on as little as 5% of the wattage of their conventional counterparts, and in many cases even outperform them!  On top of that, LED fixtures are mercury free, UV emission free, shock and vibration proof, cool running, and usually require even less labor to set up and operate!  And since they last for up to 100,000 hours (compared to an average of 1000 hours for most conventional lights), they won’t require replacement for about 8-10 years, so they help keep waste out of the landfills. • HID fixtures give you the option of using a traditional PAR or Ellipsoidal spot (for pattern projection) that is as bright as its conventional counterpart, but at only 30% of the power requirement.  And with a 10,000 hour lamp life, recycling requirements are cut by 90%. • We are also building our stock of traditional fixtures that now offer high-definition optics, effectively giving us greater light output at lower wattages.  With these high efficiency, high definition choices, we can give you a lot of bang for as little as 50% the power consumption. Ask for “Low Energy” or “High Efficiency/High Definition” lighting alternatives on your next event:  You’ll save money on power, labor, and you’ll be doing something great for the environment at the same time! ...read more
