Cascade Spine and Injury Center

I was riding with some friends when the car behind slammed into us. I was in the back seat and my head jerked back on impact. I went to Dr. McClaren to get my head and neck checked and found out that my head was okay, but I had whiplash. He began treatments with chiropractic care and massage at his office and gave me some exercises which I did faithfully. He had me come in several times a week, and as my condition improved, he had me go in less and less. By the third month, he gave me a release form because I was completely better. The whiplash had caused a lot of pain and discomfort, and the shock of the accident left me feeling edgy, emotional, and nervous. I had seen chiropractors before who were all about just getting the work done and trying to get more business out of me, but I could tell the difference how Dr. McClaren really cared about me as a person and how I was feeling. In that delicate state, that was so important to me. I know it was part of what helped me get better quickly. ...read more

If you are looking for a caring health professional stay away from cut throat Rebbeca Crowley Huey PA C. She is not interested in anything except to take your money in anyway she can. She will push supplements that are three times the amount. Her office visits are more than what an MD or a speyialist charges and she charges $195 just for ordering lab work. What is more she forces patients to visit her every three to four months as well as lab work so she can collect her fees for ordering lab. She moved to portland from Texas and bought her office in down town portland and she wants to pay it off by nickle and diming patients for all they have got. ...read more

What is Naturopathic Medicine?

When you ask this question, you are bound to get an answer that involves the terms “vitality,” “energy,” “nature,” or “the body.” But what does that all mean? Licensed naturopathic doctors are trained professionals with four or more years of medical school training with a focus on health and prevention.  Naturopathic medicine is about optimizing function.  It’s about restoring and maintaining health.   How does one do these things?  You make sure you have everything you need, and you get rid of everything that is standing in the way.  For healthy people with few obstacles to health, this means eating well, exercising regularly, reducing stress, and doing something that you love.  There are things that naturopathic doctors can do to further improve health such as prevent illness and assist a person through an acute condition.  But ideally, people don’t need a whole lot more. For others who are suffering from chronic disease or were born with a condition that interferes with normal bodily functions, it can be more complex.  This is where naturopathic medicine comes in with all its tools –modalities.  These modalities include nutrition, herbs, hydrotherapy, homeopathy, drainage, IV nutrients, pharmaceuticals, and many others.  The toolbox is large and there is no one size fits all treatment.  This means care is tailored to each individual’s body, resources, and preferences. It all boils down to one concept:  In with the useful and out with whatever is slowing you down. This year marks the first annual National Naturopathic Medicine Week from October 7th -13th.  Take this opportunity to learn how naturopathic medicine can help you.
