I've been working on my artwork for over ten years and before using the internet, my sales were abysmal at best. A few jobs here another there wasn't enough to pay a garbage bill much less pay a mortgage at the time. To let you know, I was working full time so making the money to pay my bills wasn't the issue. My problem was taking the job that didn't satisfy me. Don't get me wrong. I worked with wonderful people over the years and I learned a lot about the printing field. To this day I still check the menus at the restaurant or a magazine at a store to see if the color is correct or if the type is lined up or if it's folded evenly. Old habits never die even if I haven't touched a press in fifteen years. Anyway, as I ran my press and hoping I didn't overlook any ink streaks or hickies on a photo, my thoughts always went back to what it would be like to have my own business selling art. At the time, drawing and airbrush art was my passion and some of the science fiction/fantasy art that I saw was amazing to me. Luis Royo (Erotic fantasy sci-fi women), Hajime Sorayama (Robotic and fleshly women), and Drew Struzan (Star Wars, Indiana Jones... etc). Back then, the internet was no where near as sophisticated or reliable. It was the dawn of a new era and I had no idea what it was or how it worked. My first computer was an Amiga 4000 and it scared me to death with all of those codes and weird dashes and numbers to type in. So here I am with a computer that I had no idea how to make it work, with art, be it not great art, trying to figure out what to do with it and how to get it to digital form. By the way, I was running with a big 25 megs of ram back then. Yes as you may have guessed, this was in the late eighties early nineties. Still I knew this was going to change the artworld in some way even though I didn't know how big until much later. Meanwhile, I was trying to get my art out to the masses by word of mouth and sending out postcards. I would go to car cruises and place my business cards in some of the most gorgeous muscle cars, hotrods and motorcycles, hoping to get work. To date they have yet to indentify the woman's body and that the local police have no leads in the case.
