Crosscut Hardwoods
By Kent C at Customer Lob February 12, 2014
I have been dealing with these guys for about two years now and couldn't be happier with the quality, selection and price. They have an awesome selection of both domestic and exotic hardwoods and when I need something they are a phone call away to verify they have what I need. I build custom chairs and furniture which are shipped all over the continental US and my customers are demanding when it comes to quality. Cross Cut Hardwoods provides that quality and with friendly helpful customer service. ...read more
Crosscut Hardwoods
By Steve C at Customer Lob October 28, 2013
I've used Crosscut for at least 15 years now. They are always excellent. They manage to hunt down all the materials I need and at a great price. They deliver to me or at my job sites. I sometimes call with technical questions when a client wants a certain type of wood pattern. We've become good friends over the years -- one hand washes the other and everyone benefits. The "Cost" of Sustainability
Most of us have recognized by now that we need to be more sustainable in our purchasing practices...but how many of us have acknowledged the "cost"? With products claiming to be sustainable or "green", there are factors that increase both the "green" attributes and the cost. Products manufactured in the United States follow more controlled guidelines to qualify a product as "green", increasing costs due to responsible raw material sourcing and manufacture controls. If we truly want to support sustainability and the United States economy, simply we need a gold standard and to recognize that U.S. manufactured products can exceed expectations. We have entered an age of non-disposability, recognizing quality products that will last a lifetime while supporting the environment. The old adage rings true, "you get what you pay for". Support local manufacturers or companies representing recycled or U.S. made products and we will all win with the environmental outcome. ...read more

American Sustainable Pottery
In today's economy it may seem a fair price to purchase Asian/Vietnamese glazed pottery, though it is not the most sustainable choice. Most glazed pottery manufacturers outside the U.S. utilize glaze components that produce toxins released into our atmosphere when fired in a kiln, namely mercury and lead though many other pollutants are released. American manufactured glazed pottery is controlled by EPA regulations to carefully monitor components that may pose a threat to air quality emissions in addition to utilizing local raw material sourcing. It is generally more expensive due to the manufacturing quality control of the process, though the outcome is a sustainable product of uncomparable quality. A time honored American pottery line we represent is Gladding McBean pottery, made in California since 1875 by artisans utilizing locally sourced clay and EPA standardized testing to ensure "green" manufacturing practices.
