Dedication Of 18-Wheel Mobile Chapel

It has been 14 1/2 years since I started Steering Wheel Ministries at which time I started working towards getting an 18-wheel Mobile Chapel built and on the road. Why have an 18-wheel Mobile Chapel going from truck stop to truck stop? Because truck drivers cannot get to church and they also need a chaplain they know is one of them. When the drivers know this chapel is on the road they are more willing to come into the chapel. The chapel has a self-contained living quarters for the chaplain as well as the chapel area complete with pews and imitation stained glass windows. The chapel will be in each truck stop from four to seven days depending on the size of the truck stop. We will be dedicating the chapel to the service of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 17, 2010 from noon 'till 4:00 at the Pilot truck stop at the Rice Hill Exit 148 off I-5 in Oregon. Please come and join us. You can see pictures of the construction on our web site at www.steeringwheel.org. ...read more

Update On 18-wheel Mobile Chapel Construction

The Mobile Chapel is being built and we are planning the dedication for Saturday, July 17 starting at Noon. The location of the dedication will be at the Pilot truck stop at the Rice Hill Exit 148 off I-5 in Oregon. We took the chapel truck to a church in Klamath Fall, OR where they are donating the construction of the inside. They are building self-contained living quarters for the chaplain at one end and the rest is being built into a chapel. Before we took it to Klamath Falls every outside light, including the plug, had to be replaced. When completed this 18-wheel mobile chapel will be going from truck stop to truck stop in Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada and Idaho. To learn more about the chapel construction and to see what we do all year long, including our just completed annual Trucker's Days Of Jubilee at Pollard Flat, go to www.steeringwheel.org and click on the "Happening" button. ...read more

Update on what is happening here at Steering Wheel Ministries

This picture is of the truck that was given to Steering Wheel Ministries on November 23, 2009. This truck will pull our 18-wheel mobile chapel from truck stop to truck stop in the West Coast states. We are still working on obtaining the supplies we need, 2x4s are what is holding us back at this time so we can complete the construction of the mobile chapel. We continue to hold Sunday morning services in the TV Room at two truck stops: Rice Hill Pilot at Exit 148 on I-5 in Oregon at 8:00 and at the TA truck stop in Coachella, California at Exit 143, (Dillon Road) on I-10 at 9:00. We are currently getting ready for Christmas Day. Every year we give the truck drivers what we call Gospel cookie packages on Christmas Day. These packages contain homemade cookies and have a Gospel booklet on top. For more of what we do go to our "Happening" page and see what we have been doing all year. Sincerely, Merwin Rhoades President/founder/Chaplain www.steeringwheel.org ...read more
