Toni's Flowers & Gifts

I get a flower arrangement every mother's day. Flowers have arrived from various florists around town. I know a similar amount of money is spent each time, but there have been big differences in quality and how many flowers are in the arrangements. The arrangement from Toni's was very full and beautiful. ...read more

Your Road Map to Success

If you think about it, success is really as easy as creating a road map. You figure out where you are now, decide where you want to go, and then determine the travel route that makes the most sense and gives you the greatest probability to arrive on schedule. Without a map, however, a traveler is left to wander, hoping to eventually arrive at the right destination. Unfortunately, this is usually the problem with those who fail to find the success they seek in their personal or professional lives – no map. To compound the problem, when we struggle to reach the performance levels we desire, we are often counseled to think more positively, to be more enthusiastic, to be more committed, or to simply work harder. Unfortunately, without a road map – a success plan – none of this advice will have any realeffect on your performance. What we should focus on is two intangibles critical to high performance – desire and discipline. Circumstance doesn't create high performance. Good fortune doesn't create high performance. Even talent doesn't necessarily create high performance. Greatness – in anything – is a function of desire and discipline, and it's the discipline side of the equation that typically creates the biggest barriers to transforming individual potential into real performance. Why? Because discipline is what leads us to create – and adhere to – the road maps that we need for success. W. Edwards Deming, whose methodologies led to the performance revival of Japanese industry following WWII, has said, "If you can't describe what you are doing as a process, you don't know what you're doing." That is exactly what our road map provides – a visual representation of a process. We call it a map, but in reality, it simply gives us a step–‐by–‐step methodology for reaching our goal, and provides clear indication when we stray off course.view the entire article here:http://oklahoma.theperformancemagazine.com/featured-articles/your-road-map-to-success ...read more
