It's Your Tax Refund

Everyone is aware of the political changes over recent times. Please, we implore you to research the many changes in tax law. What you do not know can and will hurt you. Keeping your hard earned money is a difficult task today and as professional enrolled agents we implore you to not rely on the deals that are so tempting but untrue. If it sounds too good to be true it is. Marketers know they can get you to buy much more easily by appealing to your emotions than your common sense. Therefore, untold thousands of absolute lies can empty your money from your pocket. Please be diligent and read the tax publications or rely upon a professional tax accountant that must attend continuing education classes every year to keep up with current laws. If you choose to use so called free tax software, or get suckered into the scheme that major tax preparation companies use, you will leave a lot of your justly earned cash in the hands of the IRS which in turn will turn it over to the Treasury where it will be used to finance the current new social programs.  Quick refunds are a thing of the past. Just a few years ago it was very frustrating waiting weeks on end at your mailbox every Tuesday for your tax refund check. A few years back a couple of tax preparation companies knew if they could get your refund to you more quickly, they could get your business. It worked. Each year millions of people wait in long lines to have novice preparer with 10 weeks or less training and making little more than minimum wage, prepare their taxes. They then "apply" for what is known as a Refund Anticipation Loan otherwise known as a RAL. The process is very simple but also very expensive. Based on your prospective return, the company uses a bank, sometimes owned by them to give you an advance on your refund. It is NOT instant though. Often you must wait two to five days for the IRS to "accept" your return before the company will issue you a check. There is also a loan fee for this plus exorbitant interest. Your "loan can cost you a third of your refund. To rehash, you let an amateur figure your return, you pay a fee, wait 2 to 5 days and then pay outlandish interest plus a loan fee for a very short term loan. You do this because you think you will get your money more quickly. It just isn't true anymore. If you want to pay for example, $300.00 of your $1000.00 refund to get your check maybe 2 days quicker, The IRS thanks you kindly and so does B&R; Square or whoever you are going to use for your so called "really fast refund". The honest truth they will not tell you is that the IRS now direct deposits your money to your bank account in 5 to 12 days on average. This costs you nothing. So using one of these companies is really not advantageous.   A comparison study by a professional accounting firm last year showed fees charged for computing and filing a tax return by these retail tax preparation companies were on average 20% higher than Enrolled Agents, professional tax accountants and even some tax attorneys. We know the Refund Anticipation Loans are a ripoff and we have too much integrity to use them. Rather, we offer to do figure your taxes and recheck the return three times to make sure you are refunded the maximum amount of your hard earned money as is legally possible. As for free online tax software, go figure. After using this software and receiving your refund, have a reputable company take a look at your return and I will bet a dollar to a doughnut you will ask them to file an amended return so you can get the rest of what is due you for deductions not recognized by the free software or your knowledge of tax laws.   ...read more
