We all want to save money and hassle by not having to send our phones in to the factory but I have learned my lesson with my HTC One which was out of warranty. Would no longer take a charge while turned on and was no longer recognized by computer. Took the phone in on Wednesday and sent someone by on Friday to check on it. They were told that the phone had been sent out to another location to put under the microscope, which they later denied. I called them Monday and asked about it and they claimed they had tried to contact me (once) on another cell phone and the voice mail was not set up. Someone monitors this phone from around Noon through the night, so not many attempts were apparently made to contact me. I also left a business card with an email address which I mentioned as preferable. They told me that the phone needed a new charging port and would be $75, so I said fix it. I do have my phone back and appears to work fine now, but when I put it under the microscope I can see the damage they did to the case in prying it open on both sides and the bottom. Next time it goes to the factory, lesson learned... I can no longer sell the phone for half of what I was prepared to get.
