Horrible experience with these movers and there customer service!! Hired them through Uhaul Company to move our daughter and load pods. Damaged brand new wood table and chairs due to improper loading. We also purchased insurance through Uhaul and of course, no responsibility taken by either company despite us jumping throught ALL the hoops to take pictures, get estimates for repair, making numerous calls and sending numerous emails. So very sad to think a company can take advantage of the consumer!!! ...read more

Top Ten Questions to Consider When Hiring Your Moving Company

Moving can be a stressful experience, complete with a multitude of emotions.  The excitement of moving into a new home, the sadness of saying "goodbye" to friends, neighbors and family at the old place, the financial burdens it imposes, the impending changes it will bring.  Then there's the packing--gathering boxes, cartons, tape, packing materials.  Let's not forget the most important part--scheduling all of the logistics of the move, including searching for the best moving company to handle the job! With all of the stress involved with moving, the last thing you should have to worry about is the competence of the movers that you hire. Sadly, unfortunate events can occur, despite the best laid plans. When selecting a moving company there are many things you should consider.  How do you know what to look for as you narrow down your choices? Let's face it--anyone with a truck and brute strength could technically "promote" themselves as a moving company, however below is a list of important things to consider before retaining a moving company.Below is a list of the Top Ten Questions to Consider When Hiring Your Moving Company:Please note: This list is randomly stated and not in order of importanceNumber 10: Is the Moving Company Dependable&Reliable? Do your research ahead of time.  Request references from past clients.  Search the Internet for reviews.  You need to rest assured that the movers will show up to start the job as scheduled, with the crew and equipment necessary to do the job.  If adjustments are needed, the movers should be able to accommodate those as well, within reason.Number 9: What is the attitude and demeanor of the crew/staff?  MOVING IS STRESSFUL!This fact can not be mentioned enough! Professional, friendly and courteous staff can make your big day less tense and can put you at ease as they are handling your precious belongings.Number 8: How Efficient is the Crew/Staff?  It takes a special set of skills to move certain items--keyword--items such as heavy and bulky pieces, delicate pieces, and awkward items.  In addition to having strength, a skilled mover must be concerned with factors such as load balance, depth perception and  properly securing items during transit to eliminate property damage and injury.  A skilled mover will also  exercise good time management, to be mindful of time spent on the job, especially those being billed by the hour.Number 7: What is the Experience Level of the Crew/Staff? To expand upon the point above, the experience level and/or training of the moving company's staff/crew is critical.  Inexperienced movers are more likely to cause property damage or have accidents.Number 6: Is the Moving Company Licensed and/or Bonded? Even the most careful and skilled crew can experience mishaps due to accidents.  Licensing and bonding just makes it all better--ensuring that proper regulations are followed to resolve any issues that may arise.Number 5: What Level of Customer Service is Provided by the Moving Company? This feature should be taken into consideration during the initial contact with the company.  Are your questions answered thoroughly and openly? Is the scheduling handled professionally?  When the crew arrives at the work site are they on time, professional and neat in appearance?  Does the lead crew member go over important details before getting started?Number 4: Does the Moving Company Offer a Good Value for the Services Provided?  You know the old saying, "You get what you pay for?" Well that definitely rings true when you consider the investment you make in hiring professional movers.  Is it really a good deal to pay a flat rate which is $100 cheaper if your belongings are damaged and you must spend thousands to repair or replace them? What about the moving company whose crew charges a flat rate for a job but take 3 times as long to complete the job, cursing, and taking breaks every 30 minutes?  A good value encompasses many different things.Number 3: What Level of Communication is Provided by the Scheduler/Crew leader? Communication is key throughout the move in order to ensure that you the client are happy and that the mover understands your requests.  If communication is challenged at the beginning of the transaction, just imagine how it might be on moving day??Number 2: How Carefully Will Your Items be Packed/loaded onto the Truck? Proper loading and item placement ensures safe transmission of goods during travel.  A poorly loaded truck increases the risk of damage to property due to items shifting during transit.Number 1: How Professional is the Appearance of the Crew Members? Remember, one never has a second chance to make a first impression!  The appearance of the moving company's crew reflects the professionalism and pride of the company, team work and their work ethic.Hopefully these tips provide useful insight into selecting the best moving company.  GR8LABOR, based in Columbus, Ohio strives for excellent client service.  We work hard to ensure each element of your move will encompass the features above.  For more details and to book your next move, visit our website at:www.GR8LABOR.COMLike us on Facebook! ...read more
