vIs an Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program Your Best Option?

One of the most common hold-backs for people who are considering drug and alcohol treatment programs is affordability. Most often, insurances won’t cover an inpatient treatment program at all. That’s where the strength of outpatient treatment programs lies as they are designed to be very affordable with an overall lower investment rate by the patients. Outpatient treatment programs are covered by several insurance providers and provide much of the same services that inpatient programs offer. The primary difference is that the outpatient program allows patients to return home at night. Those afflicted with addictions to heavy drugs and even prescription medications stand to benefit very much from outpatient programs. Treatment centers often provide medically assisted home treatment and withdrawal care. Outpatient programs have a very effective program design that will return the patient to a healthier drug free life while continuing their daily life. The program will help reestablish a sober and healthy life for each patient through intensive counseling, support and industry leading detoxification methods. Typically intensive outpatient programs last around six to eight hours per day. In this time patients of the outpatient program receive an array of help from group therapy, educational activities, individual counseling, films, speakers, readings and much more. Many patients who are sent by courts as substance abusers are required to participate in these intensive programs as part of their sentence and must do so for anywhere from six months to eight weeks. The inclusion of family is paramount in many intensive outpatient treatment programs. Family can usually participate in guidelines and educational programs. The involvement of family members is also essential for the effective implementation of home guidelines for the patient. Family members are needed to ensure the home is maintained as a safe and drug free zone. Helpful services like child care, transportation and other forms of assistance are typically taken care of by trusted family members. Patients of these intensive outpatient rehab programs are monitored vigorously and required to have attendance sheets signed to ensure and track their attendance. This shows family members and in some cases the courts, the patients’ progress and involvement. Additional to this they are regularly drug tested many times without warning to ensure a sober lifestyle during the program with the intent that it will continue after the program. If a patient and their family are fully committed to intensive outpatient programs, like those offered in organizations like Substance Abuse Helpline in Columbus, OH, the possibilities and limits are endless. Successful detox and rehab is a phone call away, take the step that can change you or your loved ones life forever. ...read more
