I am currently aware of a case that she is working on & the blatent abuse that is going on in the home under the approval of this gaurdian . These children are at a severe risk & she approved the visit for this caucasion mother. The list of abuse instances & neglect are lengthy. Sure seems like a racist to me. She also takes cases that her partner is working on. This is a true conflict of interest for the children. Is all this in the name of the almighty dollar & not what is best for the children? She needs to be re-evaluated for her inabilities to fight for the best interest of the children . She does not deserve any rating other than at least a minus #5. I have to wonder if she has children, scary for them. Run, don't walk away from this woman, she is not a child advocate. ...read more

Divorce vs. Dissolution

We are often asked what the difference is between a divorce and a dissolution (not “dissolutionment”). Both are a legal process to terminate a marriage. Both processes require the parties to disclose and divide all property and debts and set forth spousal support obligations. Further, if the parties have children, both processes also require the parties to allocate parental rights and responsibilities and set child support. After all is said and done, both are orders of the court that can later be modified or enforced. However, the primary difference between a divorce and dissolution is how involved the court is. In a dissolution, the parties are able to come to an agreement as to all terms for ending their marriage. The agreement may have been reached through the parties themselves, with the help of their attorneys, or through some alternative dispute resolution like private mediation. To divide their property and debts and set forth spousal support obligations, the parties enter into a Separation Agreement, which gets incorporated into the Decree of Dissolution. If there are minor children involved, custody and child support might also be allocated in those documents, but the parties may agree to shared parenting and enter into a Shared Parenting Plan, which is incorporated into a Decree of Shared Parenting. The final hearing can be done at the court house or through the use of a private judge. However, when the parties cannot agree on everything, they file a divorce. A divorce signals that the parties need the involvement of the court to help resolve issues of their property, debts, parental rights and responsibilities, or support. Although it is considered more adversarial than adissolution proceeding, it doesn’t have to be. The parties may end up in trial, where the judge or magistrate will make a decision about how to deal with those issues, or the parties may end up settling their issues while the divorce is pending. If they settle, the parties can request the court to adopt their settlement agreement and make it a binding order of the court through an uncontested divorce hearing. If you have additional questions or need to consult an attorney about a divorce or dissolution, call our office today at (614) 567-3031 to schedule an initial consultation. We will walk you through the pros and cons of the various methods for terminating your marriage and help you make a decision about the best way to proceed. ...read more
