Upper Arlington Public Library

I have a 7 year old and a 4 year old. We go to the Lane Rd branch about once a month. I am very unimpressed with the staff and the service. Every time I looked for a book that was supposed to be on the shelf, I could not find it, and when asking the staff for help, they could not find it either. In the children's section it is even worse - do not let your children get close to the guinea pig! My 4 year old poked the cage, I told him to stop, he stopped right away, but one of the librarians came and started talking to him about the habits of the guinea pigs. I thought she was just being friendly - we pretty much go to the library for the kids to interact with other people, since I homeschool them and we do all the reading at home. But boy, was I in for a surprise. After less than five minutes of this woman talking to my kids, the other librarian came to me and said: "I don't feel comfortable with Pam babysitting your kids". I've been to this library more times than I can count. The library itself is 4 stars. It has a good selection of books, but its dvd and cd selection is not as good as it should be, given the size of the library. The staff is pretty stiff, but they are professional and willing to help you with any questions. There is a good amount of computers in the library and you usually don't have to wait long for one. The library is pretty quiet and it has a quiet study area if you are looking for more quiet and peace. \t\n\t\n4 out of 5 stars. ...read more
