Because I'm a business owner and Third Federal does not do commercial business accounts, I have them for all my personal needs including my home mortgage. I visit two other commercial banks on a regular basis for the business side, and there is a differance between Third Federal and the others. Third Federal reminds me of a Bank from years ago that still operates today. Old school, it has a differant feeling. Employees are more " homey" if that's the right word. They seem like they've all been there for years. A nice feeling that I do not generally get at the other "big branches". The commercial banks seem to have that "corporate feel" to them. Not a good or a bad thing, but it is differant. Third Federal reminds me of your family run bank. Hard to find in the city. ...read more

By far the worst bank I have ever done business with. Unreasonable fee's...a way of processing deposits vs. withdrawls that leaves a large grey area which makes it difficult to manage the account when you live paycheck to paycheck like me. They at one point charged me over $1000 in fee's only to jump through hoops for 3 months to prove the initial overdraft was caused by an unauthorized withdrawl by a third party. This caused me severe financial burden to say the least and the branch which I had opened and serviced my account at for 10 years treated me very poorly rather then being of assistance in clearing up the matter.
