These people are scam artists and will fast talk you into buying what they want you to buy and get upset with you if you are taking your time in deciding. They lied to me about some pieces that were supposed to come with my furniture. When it was delivered the delivery men were rude and disrespectful and didn't even assemble the furniture! The delivery men told me "that's your job!" Then when I told them I wanted to return the furniture because I was lied to about what was included with it, the manager told me he would call me to schedule a date that it can be picked up. The manager never called and when I called him, he lied to me and stated that he never told me he would accept the furniture back and that I have to keep it now.So I was lied to three times by a person that manages a company that has a 5 star rating on this site. I have noticed on WKYC-TV over the last several months a "segment" featuring the owner of Northeast Factory Direct being "interviewed" by a WKYC reporter. Clearly the segment is an advertisement for the company, and whatever arrangements or agreements that may have been made between WKYC and the advertiser is none of my business. My beef is this--if the segment is an infomercial, there should be a disclaimer saying the opinions are those of the advertiser and not the station. This would at least allow the viewer the take in the segment with an ounce of skepticism. If it is not an infomercial but is actually being reported as news, then the station has some responsibility to verify the truth in the claims made by Northeast Factory Direct. As the same spot has run several times over the last few months, it follows that this is not "news" in any sense. It also turns out that the claims made by Northeast are well beyond mere exaggerations and are simply inaccurate. His company claims to save customers "thousands of dollars" because they are ABLE to sell merchandise without the huge markup found at typical retailers (implying they are smarter businessmen than all their competitors) and the company is also WILLING to forfeit the huge markup (implying that their competitors are making a conscious effort to rip off the helpless consumer.) A quick internet search of the skus found on the Northeast website reveal that their prices are not only not thousands of dollars less than its competitors, they are not even the lowest prices in the trading area. Naturally the consumer has some responsibility to do their own research and determine what are the wisest buying decisions (including price, terms, reputation, service, etc.), but when WKYC endorses the Northeast Factory Direct by reporting they have discovered this anomaly in retailing, the station is doing a horrible disservice to the consumer and ultimately is also harming its own reputation for responsible reporting. ...read more
