Med Mart

I am very fustrated and dis-satisfied with Med-mart customer service. I purchased a stair lift.. When , in three months, the chair became inoperable Dave Mason (supposedly service manager) ingored my calls. It wasn't until calls to his secretary and other Med-Mart employees did a repair man come to my home. The repairman was quite candid and told me it was not installed properly and needed to be reinstalled. Weeks later and phone calls to Dave Mason's ""un""answering machine; he still ignores me . I guess professional courtesy is unknown to Dave Mason. ...read more

before I could submit this I had to give a rating... that 1 star is a big big lie... more like minus000000000000 I have bought an extra heavy duty scooter and lift for my van and a walker, several other walking aid items, plus the stair lift.....it is a long long story but after 6/8 or more phone calls and stood up no show appointments and at last a very very late show up from the time promised appointments for pair of batteries for my stair lift. I am dissatisified FORMER customer... I had people standing by to install the batteries each time of the3 late or no show appointments...you would think that in order to keep good will or save a customer they would offer to install the batteries OH NO>>>>$69. per 1/2 hour take it or leave it... Dave Mason/Queen City Med Mart has the worst customer service of ANY company I have ever delt with... I am a 76 yr old widow and depend on others to help with things out of my ability. They have gotten the last $$$ I will ever spend on assisted mobility products. Liz Stegman Lebanon Ohio ...read more

Gerontechnology: What is it and how will it change your life?

Gerontechnology is an industry focused on creating innovative technologies to help seniors live as independently as possible. Some of the technologies are what is called "low tech". this means that the solutions are simple. A walker for example. Others are considered "high tech" and these include home health management systems. This is an exploding market filled with amazing products. Here are two of my favorites. 1. The HandyBar: It is low tech and fantastic. Many people have a hard time getting out of the car due leg weakness and pain associated with arthritis and other conditions. This little gadget priced at $35 is the solution! It is a metal handle that slips into a car door frame to provide a handle to push up from when getting out of a car. It is portable and durable. 2. MedApps: Healthcare cost for people with chronic conditions such as COPD, Diabetes and Coronary artery disease are astronomical. Managing these conditions costs insurance companies and medicare billions of dollars per year. MedApps has a cost effective solution to managing these health conditions. They have a wireless remote system that measure weight, blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen level, sugar level and even a EKG! Addressing changes and warning signs immediately has been shown to drastically reduce readmissions to hospitals and decrease cost of care! Well done! Finally, technology has moved into the realm of helping people stay in their homes as they age or experience disability! This will revolutionize how healthcare is provided and allow people to live at home.... where they belong! Marnie Renda MEd OTR/L, CAPS Independent Living Specialist ...read more
