Akrons outdated 1 hour parking restriction is applied throughout the city except where signs declare a different time limit. Whats bad is that this restriction is also applied to residential areas. So that means that from the hours of 8am to 6pm, a bored officer can come along and ticket your vehicle while You sleep to get ready to work your midnight shift. They have been approached by various people throughout the community and refuse to alter their stance in the least...it would take away revenue from the tickets.\t\n However, many cities both larger and smaller than Akron have instituted residential parking permit programs to aid their residents. Akron refuses to. The monies generated from those tickets are not used to repair roads as is obvious by the conditions of the streets in Akron Ohio. People have also been know to bust axles in some of the potholes. And what a sight seeing 13 vehicles lined up along the MLK with torn out tires from the same pothole which was unavoidable. Indeed, the parking restriction does not appear to be uniformly enforced either as personal research has shown. So all in all I would say live elsewhere, own property elsewhere and just visit Akron Ohio if You absolutely need to.
