Selling Sponsorships in a Down Economy

Put yourself in your prospective sponsor's shoes. What would motivateyouto an event at a trade show? You would very likely ask these questions of the event organizer:   Who has attended this reception, seminar, luncheon, etc., in the past? How cost-effective is sponsorship when compared to other marketing opportunities? And here is a question you would ask yourself:   With the economy this bad, why should I incur this expense? Maybe next year… Answers? Consider these:   You have to be able to provide the data that will support your contention that the "right people" will attend the sponsored event. Quantity does not equate "right people". Telling a prospective sponsor that 3,000 people attended the previous year's sponsored event is not likely to cut it, not in this economy. You have to provide hard data: names, job titles, affiliations, buying authority, etc. Sponsorship- if the "right people" attended the event- is a very powerful marketing tool. It provides name recognition and it provides access. A company's sales efforts are enhanced if it has positive name recognition. Access to decision makers is a powerful competitive advantage. Right now my competitors are hunkering down. My current marketing efforts will have a more powerful impact in the absence of any marketing push by my competitors. Now is the time to seize the day. How to Give Exhibitors More for Their Money

Help them capture leads 16 hours a day Let them bring their booth to receptions Make it easy for attendees to contact them In this addition of TIPS we will address number 1 above, "Help them capture leads 16 hours a day". Next time around we will tell you how you can make it possible for an exhibitor to carry his booth with him throughout the show. Finally, we'll show you how easy it can be for attendees to retrace their trade show travels.   Ask an exhibitor, "Was it a good show?" and you will generally get one of two answers:   "Yes, I got a lot of well-qualified leads", or "No, I didn't get many well-qualified leads." Leads, leads, leads. When all is said and done, it's all about the leads.   If an exhibitor has a pocket-sizedlead retrieval terminalthat reads badges, but can capture data even when there is no badge, she can capture leads everywhere: On the show floor, at receptions, at impromptu events. If that same pocket-sized device has a brilliant color screen, audio and the ability to present videos and PowerPoints, it becomes a walking, talking trade show booth. Your exhibitors can carry presentation to where the buyers are. What if attendees could go online and see where they been: Which booths and sessions? Then they could contact the exhibitors who don't contact them, all via the web.   For aFree white paperdescribing how to help your exhibitors boost their ROI, visitwww.bartizan.com   ...read more

Give Exhibitors 8 More Hours of Exhibit Time with Lead Retrieval

A man walks into a bar at the National Widget Association Annual Trade Show. He sidles up to the bar, orders a drink and gets comfortable. Soon a fellow standing next to him engages him in conversation about the ballgame on TV. The first fellow, Charlie, mentions that he is here for the NWA show. "Me, too", the second man, Al replies.   The two share some baseball stories. Charlie mentions that he is exhibiting his company's new Evergreen Wireless Widget, or EWW. "No kidding", says Al. "I'll have to drop by your booth. I'm in the market for green wireless widgets."   Will Al remember to stop by Charlie's exhibit the following day? If she does not, what a wasted opportunity for Charlie.   Let's go back to the point where Al says "I'll have to drop by your booth. I'm in the market for green wireless widgets." With that, Charlie reaches into his jacket pocket and withdraws hisLeads2Golead retrieval handheld. He turns on the display and voila, there are his products displayed in a colorful video. "See, Al, here is our newest widget. And let me show you a PowerPoint that outlines its features and benefits. Want to see how much you can save? Look at this spreadsheet with my prices." Al is impressed, but that's a lot of information to remember. "Charlie, can you send me information on this?" "Al, I can give you everything I just showed you." With that, Charlie pops out theLeads2GoSD card and hands it to Al. "Just put that in your computer when you get back to your office. Everything is right there."   Give your exhibitors more exhibit time for their money. Give themLeads2Goto capture leads (on and off the floor) and to maximize their selling time.   Go toBartizan.comfor a FREE white paper,Trade Show Exhibitor Survival Guide.
