THE Catracho Restaurant SERVES AUTHENTIC LATIN FOOD FROM HONDURAS. I WOULD RATE THE OVERALL SERVICE 4 OUT OF 5. IF YOU CAN GET OVER THE NARCISSISTIC ATTITUDE OF THE MANAGER AND OWNER "HECTOR" AND HIS FRIENDS THAT ARE ALMOST ALWAYS INEBRIATED AT THE BAR...YOU WOULD ENJOY A GOOD AUTHENTIC MEAL FROM HONDURAS. ...read more

I was raised on Mikes Dinners.. My mom use to work as a waitress for him on New Dorp Lane. Over the 38+ years Mike acquired many properties. The old Russo's was never any good.. plus others.. The old standbys.. His original Mikes Place on New Dorp lane was always good.. (I haven't been to mikes in a while. So I don't know how they are..) so was the Olympic.. \t\n\t\nBut today, 5/9/12 around 12 noon... I morn the death of my fav.. dinner.. The Olympic Grill Dinner.\t\n\t\n My combo plate.. Shiko bob was super spicy... I didn't order spicy then someone dumped a alt shaker on my food. UCK. MIKE where are you... Your Dinner needs you... the food is Horrible.. In addition For get getting your fries your way.. I ask for well done burnt I get soggy..I've even gotten my burger bun soaked in pickle juice.. sticking to the whole cheese burger. (Not at 2am though) Pricy to boot.. Don't dare order a special or anything other than a burger... you have been warned. ...read more

Bella Mama Roses

By far the best restaurant of any kind on Staten Island...Tried it for the first time about a year ago, and have eaten there 20-30 times since. You will never get enough of their baked shrimp/calamari appetizer!. The fried calamari is undoubtedly the absolute best..very crispy, light coating and tender inside. Eggplant parm like you never tasted! The pasta variations are mouth-watering, and the daily specials will keep you coming back to try a different one. At the "holiday" time, they serve big portions of the most delicious baccala with pasta ever! And remember to try the gnocchi, very creamy and smooth. Did I mention the pizza? Nice, thin crispy crust, flavorful fresh sauce, plenty of mozz, and a teriffic assortment of tasty toppings. Available large size or as a "personal" size pie. Most dishes can be ordered "family style", a very large platter of whichever item which will then serve several diners at your table. Tempting dessert menu, and of course full bar, wine selections. I am getting hungered-up just writing about the place! Weekday lunch specials offer some regular menu items at considerable savings. Very attentive, efficient service, and the owner and head chef will come by and talk to you about your dining experience, a nice touch. Be aware that everything is fresh-cooked to order, and takes the proper time to prepare...so it may seem like you're waiting more than you might at some other places, but this sets a nice relaxing old-world pace. I suggest you determine what appetizer you'd like and order it before continuing to order your main course...finish up with some of their delicious Espresso or Capuccino, you're never rushed out. Enjoy!!! ...read more

Classic Pizza

1.0

By BklynRed at Citysearch

I never had anything but good things to say about Classic Pizza. Tonight changed all that for me. I ordered a large chesse pie and an order of lentil soup. Knowing a big football game was on, I figured the delivery time would be a little longer. I waited an hour (not too bad). The problem, the pizza was refrigerator cold and I was delivered a hero, not the soup. I called the place and after being placed on hold for 10 minutes, I informed them of their mistake. The guy on the phone apologized, told me the delivery boy would pick up the hero, bring it back to the shop and pick up my soup, then deliver the soup to me. I complained it would take too long, I don't eat pizza (I am a diabetic), and everyone is waiting for me to eat. He tells me that its very very busy. NO EXCUSE!!!! I am a business owner myself. If I am too busy or overwhelmed by clients, I take no appointments for a while. Business owners like this appear to care nothing about the quality of the food or service, just keep the money coming. Not only were they still taking phone orders, they still had their on-line service up and running. Overwhelmed?? Very Very Busy?? You know its a big football sunday. Plan Ahead. ...read more

Our office (8) went there for our holiday dinner last week. Everyone absolutely loved it!! The service was impeccable . Most of us had the special salad beets and goat cheese appetizer, Great! The chilean sea bass, with crispy bits of proscuitto, carmelized onions in a cognac sauce was delicious- it was cooked absolutely perfect. We shared four desserts; chocolate lava cake, bread pudding, cannolis and tasting of creme brulee and topped off with cappucinos. All of them were outstanding. Finished the night with a round of after dinner limencello! ...read more

I had tandoori chicken last day and it was horrible. I have ate good fresh Tandoori chicken from different places. The chicken was old. I was sure it was cooked like a day before and they just heated it up before serving me.. The meat close to the bone was black and soaked in oil which means that the chicken is old. I will never eat tandoori from here and I do recommend others, not to eat tandoori chicken from taste of India in new drop lane Staten island. ...read more
