Totally disaaponted. Took a netbook (MSI Wind with a retail cost of $297.00) in to the Penfield store two months ago. It was diagnosed as having a bad hard drive (320 gig). There was a reasonable charge to diagnose and to copy data off the bad hard drive. The store wanted $200.00 to replace the hard drive. After doing a little research I found replacement hard drive cost less than $40.00 retail. So they wanted $160.00 to install the forty dollar hard drive. I decided that I could replace it myself and did so with a 500gig HD for $47.00. Recently the wireless stopped working and the computer was locking up. Took it in for diagnosis and prepaid the standard charge. Received a call that they had diagnaosed the problem and it as a bad wireless card. They said that they took the card out during the diagnosis process and the would have to charge me a $60.00 "hardware charge." Additionally they wanted $100.00 to replace the wireless card. Friendly greeting and concerned on drop off. Took laptop in for anti-virus clean up. Ended up with a screen that does not work. Asked them to excuse the $60 if I bought a new laptop there. No deal, offered $30 off. I'm going to the big box store. Coincidence? Maybe but no concern on their part. ...read more
