MY K CUP
I have thought long and hard about writing this article, but I am in love! For my birthday, Brian bought me a Keurig coffeemaker. As you probably know, the Keurig is primarily used with coffee from a companies other than Keuka Lake Coffee Roasters. And, because of that it makes me nervous to suggest this is a great idea, but the technology is GREAT; the coffees available from the other companies, not my choice of course. I also know that Keurig coffeemakers were the number one selling item for Holiday gifts this year. So, many of you might be sitting and home with one and feeling unsettled about not having your Keuka Lake Coffee Roasters coffee. So, I should give you options! Being a person who is persistent and will always find a way, I can now have the best of both worlds! I became "smitten" with Keurig last year while visiting my daughter who had one. It was not the coffee (which was bitter and had no character), but but my love for the occasional hot cocoa that drove my desire to have a Keurig. I went through a few mugs during my stay and at 50 calories and 4 carbs was driven to have this convenience in my own home. I love the technology. The ability to brew a cup at a time intrigues me and it goes along with my constant "I feel like..." tendencies allowing me to change what I'm drinking from one cup to the next. However, I knew I could never settle for inferior coffee and then I discovered MY K-cup! It's a clever adapter and reusable filter, easy to use and clean and will let me brew my Keuka Lake Coffee Roasters coffee one cup at a time. What a revelation! And, it's reasonably priced. I also find I'm using much less coffee than when I brewed an air pot full at a time and then threw half of it away many days(although much of that coffee helped to develop recipes with a coffee base). To make the mornings easier, we have 2 adapters and 4 filter inserts...this allows Brian and I to get "jump started"easily. We need a couple of quick cups to get going :-) Once coffee time slows, I use my Keurig for hot cocoa (of course), bouillon, tea and even iced tea (of which I am a great fan as well). They have an insulated cup which you fill with ice, put in your K-cup tea, hit the button and inless than a minute a perfect iced tea! ...read more
