Suspect Arrested for Death of Local Pizza Restaurant Manager
A resident of Nassau County, DL, was recently injured when a driver hit him and left him there in the street without calling for help. The victim, the manager of Grimaldi̢۪s Pizza, was known by many after working at the restaurant for a substantial period of time. He was stuck at the intersection of Broad Street and Syracuse and found in the road at 4:10 am. When a medical technician arrived at the scene, he pronounced DL dead. The hit and run driver was unknown at the time of the accident. A tip came in after the fact and was given by an individual that saw the car officers were in search of posted in the Crime Stoppers bulletin. Officers were led to the home of the suspect, RK, where they arrested the 45 year old and charged them with leaving the scene of an accident that involved a fatality. The case is to be arraigned on Wednesday in the 1 District Court in Hempstead, at which time the suspect will be formally read their charges and asked how they plead. While the defendant may deal with a Class D felony punishable by up to 7 years in prison and thousands in fines, for the loved ones of victims that is often not enough. While there is no way to ever replace what has been lost, a legal case may be able to help provide some form of relief.
