Kinkos Copies

1.0

By galal817 at Citysearch

I had an extra thick set of paper sheets I needed to cut for a project. I needed to use the X-ACTO cutter. So naturally, as I have done for many many years, I went over to my local 'Kinkos' in Garden City (Store 2442). \t\n\t\nNow, however, it is 'Fed Ex Office.' "All the better," I thought. "Fed Ex has always been great with customers." I went in and looked about for the X-ACTO cutter that had always been available for self-service, but saw none on the floor, only the slide cutters for thinner paper which wouldn't work for my purpose. I asked one of the guys working who said, "I can cut it for you back here. But let me ask my manager." The manager said, "Charge her $1.50 for cutting." But this was a simple, two second job, something I have done myself a million times. I didn't want to pay anything to anyone when I could easily do it myself. And said so to the manager. Sorry, she said. It's $1.50. To say she was rude to me would be a huge understatement. \t\n\t\nI told her I would be reporting this to BBB and asked for her name. She ripped off her name tag (before she did, I caught the name TRACY) and said, "You can't have my name but here's the store number" and she threw the FED EX store card in my face. I left there extremely upset. \t\n\t\nIt was not the $1.50. It was the outrageously unacceptable and ungracious attitude of the (assistant?) manager and said attitude she promotes to the other employees working there.\t\n\t\nI then went over to STAPLES who luckily had the X-ACTO cutter on the floor. The salesgirl there saw what I was doing and said, "Why don't you let me do that back here? I have a machine that will give it a clean cut." She took it from me and did it beautifully in two seconds. "What do I owe you?" I asked. "Don't be silly," she said. "There was nothing to it. I was happy to do it." And guess what? I also purchased a few extra things while I was there. Guess which company I'll be patronizing for my office needs from now on?\t\n\t\nIs it really FED EX's mission to nickle and dime their customers? Even if it means they'll never come back? Terrible. Won't patronize this store again. ...read more
