Centerport is a city in Suffolk County, New York. It is located an the North Shore of Long Island, which is a notably affluent area. The city is known for it's sailing and boating. The Centerport Yacht Club. which was founded in 1947, sponsors a variety of regattas and races annually. Students living in the city attend the Harborfields Central School District which include the Oldfield Middle School, the T.J. Lahey Elementary, Washington Drive Primary School and the Harborfields High School. The city is home to the famous Eagle's Nest Mansion, which is now home to the Vanderbuilt Museum and Planetarium. It is also home to the first Catholic Summer Camp in the United States, Camp Alvernia. The camp was established in 1888. There are numerous famous people with ties to the city including Mariah Carey, Mary Pickford and Arthur Dove.
