Airport Music Center

This place is helpful when they are trying to make the sale, and even then the manager/owner (male) made me and my son feel dumb because of our limited knowledge in instruments. This was my son's first year playing an instrument and he made us feel as though we were taking up all of his time.... The prices here are higher than other places but we were already there. Once we said we'd take it, then Mr. Nice Guy came out. Recently we needed some repairs done and when his instrument came back it was missing the strap. I personally made sure it was included (as it is never removed anyway). His father called and was not able to get anywhere. I called myself and he immediately cut me off saying, "NO it was NOT!" "I don't believe it was there!" He talked down to me as though we had begged for a free instrument. I will never do business with them again and would deter anyone from going there. McClellan's is much nicer, patient and values their customer's business. If you need a reliable place, go there! NOT AIRPORT MUSIC!!!!!!! ...read more

Cheektowaga Central School District

1.0

By Rowlins at Citysearch

My time a Cheektowaga Central was wrought with small successes that were greatly overshadowed by an inconsiderate staff and an uncaring attitude concerning the future of it's students. On one hand I consider this particular school a major influence in my theatrical and musical endeavors, and I thank every single teacher involved who had given me respect, encouragement, and a chance. It was also at this school where I was taught the concept of "critical thinking", which has served me very well in my adult years and has allowed me to not be easily taken or fall for the lies which I see others around me succumbing too. \t\n Speaking from a professional and career standpoint though, this school has dealt me a serious blow. In terms of being able to accept and nurture a coherent, compassionate, and unique individual, this school is pure unmitigated trash. I was one of these kids growing up. I was outside the norm, and I enjoyed living that way. I embraced my differences and made absolutely no apologies for them. The majority of the staff treated my individuality and non conformist tendencies as a mental defect, and I was quickly sheltered from the general student populace and made to endure a program based mainly on special education. \t\n I know myself very well, and I knew my academic misgivings stemmed from my teachers stolid presentations, and their inability to engage me or get me motivated about what they teach. Note taking has never been a way to gain my fervor. I was treated as a mental midget. Degraded. Talked down too. Humiliated by student and staff alike. And thrust into a setting where I couldn't relate to a single one of my classmates, as they were all my tormentors outside of the classroom. Regardless of these close minded hurdles, I made it through to the end at Cheektowaga Central. At graduation I was slapped with a "degree" that was little more than a glorified attendance record. Since I was thought to be an imbecile, I suppose I was expected to just be happy with what I got regardless of how it would effect my future.\t\n To overcome this adversity and to prove to certain individuals that I did in fact have some academic ability, I promptly got my GED after finishing high school. Which shouldn't even need to be done after one FINISHES high school. There are some employers and institutions even now who look at me sideways seeing that I only have a GED to show for my time in high school. Often times they ask me "why did you decide to drop out?" To which I reply " I didn't drop out of high school, my school however seems to think I should have." ...read more
