So, I went in to make an appointment for a small design. I was openly mocked by the staff who were turning their backs to me and making gestures and laughing -- right in front of me. I made the appointment, but had serious reservations about going. They didn't take a deposit which struck me as strange. Sure enough, when I showed up for the appointment, no one was there, the shop was closed, and the gate was down. They had my phone number from when I made the appointment, and no call was ever made to explain what had happened. Worst customer service. These people do not belong in a service business. ...read more

Trischa totally botched up a surface piercing job with me and I was probably her highest paying customer. She forgot what certain jewelry was even for that she had to special order for me and she forgot other piercings that I wanted to get done. She's too forgetful when it comes to serious piercing jobs and doesn't maintain records of her well-paying clients as she really ought to. The work she did on me was extremely sloppy and horrific, but I had to go to her not only because of my extremely busy schedule but she is the only piercer in Brooklyn who is licensed to do this special type of work. She was stubborn with me, gave me attitude from day 1, and she refused to actually give me directly what I wanted. I had to bend to her will and everything she 'recommended' went horribly wrong. She also asked for way too much money considering her sloppy work. I say that any other piercer is better than she is, especially with large jobs. I wish I never met her! ...read more

How to choose a tattoo artist

When choosing a tattoo artist you want to find the right person for the job. Your going to be spending time with this person and wearing their art for the duration of your life. It's a big responsibility and you want to feel good about it. Do your research and find someone who is pleasant, clean and most of all talented. Check out artist portfolios and pay attention to their line work and details. Are the lines clean and consistent? Is the color even and saturated? Is their black and grey work smooth? These are signs of a good tattooer. Once you find someone that y appeals to your style sense, then you'll want to set up a consultation to go over your idea. Bring any reference photos, sketches, inspiration, etc. This will help you and the tattoo artist to get on the same page. Once you are ready to commit to the idea, you will leave a deposit with the artist and they will start working on your tattoo design for your set appointment date. Soon you will have a beautiful new tattoo! ...read more
