Educational Sites to Visit in New York City

Educational Housing Services Inc. offers student and intern housing opportunities at locations throughout the city, and understands that New York's diversity and historical background provide students with opportunities they will find nowhere else. If you plan on visiting New York, and want to visit some sites with substance, consider the following list. 1. Ellis Island. One in four Americans have an ancestor who passed through Ellis Island. Known as the Gateway to America, over 20 million immigrants entered the United States there between 1892 and 1924.  2. The Metropolitan Museum of Art. With more than 400 separate galleries, the Met has something to offer everyone. Admission is discounted for students.  3. The United Nations. New York has been home to the official headquarters of the United Nations since the complex was built in 1952. Significant events in recent history have taken place there, and daily tours are available. 4. Empire State Building. No trip to New York would be complete without a visit to the Empire State Building. Completed in 1931, the building is a National Historical Landmark and an example of mid-twentieth century architecture at its best. This list is in no way a complete representation of New York's substantive landmarks, but it is a good start.
