The guys from New York Plantings Garden Designers and Landscape Contractors NYC (builders of custom IPE planter boxes) delivered and installed our new planters today and planted tall evergreens for a privacy hedge (arborvitaes I think) and then as part of the package installed a "professional grade wifi controlled drip irrigation system" for our Manhattan, NY penthouse terrace. Although we do not normally write reviews we promised Todd that if all went wel we would let people know and we can certainly recommend NY Plantings for custom built planters, garden work and drip irrigation systems. thanks! ...read more

I am not a lawyer- but from what I understand from consulting with the city and legal representatives, this is what I gathered. If a tree is not a hazard, New York State law does not require you to trim or pay for trimming. But remember in strong winds all trees have the ability to cause injuries and death, and if they are overhanging in your neighbor̢۪s property it is still your tree. Your neighbor has a right to trim the branches up to the property line, they do not have to make it pretty, just as long as they don't kill it. Always check for local laws as this may vary depending on your place.Basically, if it is your tree - is your responsability.
