This has got to be the worst place in NYC to go for any eyeglass needs. Terrible customer service and cheap inexpensive frames at astronomical prices. This place should be closed by Consumer Affairs. I purchased a pair of glasses which lasted me 6 months!(I kid you not!...exactly 6 months from date of purchase)... I was doing a normal daily cleaning with eyeglass cleaner solution and they snapped right in half! Much to my amazement, when I returned to have them replaced the associate behind the desk informed me that I "shouldn't have put so much pressure on the frames when cleaning". What pressure? There is only one way I know of in order to clean your glasses...spray the lenses with eye glass cleansing solution or warm water and use an appropriate silk style cloth(provided when you purchase your glasses mind you)in a circular motion applying minimal pressure until lenses are clear. I have been wearing glasses since I was 8 yrs. old and never, NEVER! has a pair of glasses ever snapped in half on me. You would expect frames to last you a bit longer than 6 months before having to purchase new ones. Not only was I expecting to atleast get a reasonable explanation or even an apology for the poor quality of the frames, instead I was greeted by poor customer service and a sarcastic attitude in forming me that I would have to pay "an additional $40 service fee in order to have the frames replaced"...Are you kidding me? I had a discount from the health insurance and they did'nt told me, and when i ask to talk to the owner they told me i cant talk to him.I call the insurance they said they were suppose to told me about the 150 dollars discount and they didnt. Save yourself the hassle. Don't go here. There are lots of other places that can better meet your needs. I bought a pair of eyeglasses from this Cohen's in late January, 2008. By summer, the silver plate was quickly wearing off. By early November, the frames broke while I was cleaning the lens. They post their hours as being open until 7:00, and I was even told on the phone that they were open until 7:00, but when I arrived at 6:45 (after leaving my office in upper Manhattan to go to Queens to pick up my daughter and then get back to The Bronx), the door was locked. There were two employees still in there, and one came to the door. He opened it and said, ""We're closed."" I pointed out that it wasn't 7:00 and he said that the doctor had left. I told him that I had bought the glasses in January and that they had broken. All I wanted to do was leave them to have the frames repaired or replaced. He told me that I would have to come back the next day. When I told him the effort I had taken to get there that night, he said, ""We're open 7 days a week."" First, why are eyeglass frames falling apart in just over 9 months of routine wear? Second, why the HASSLE? If you say you're open until 7:00, wait on customers until 7:00. If you need to close earlier, change your posted hours. This place is a huge rip-off, and they have seen the last dime they'll get from me. If you need to replace the lenses in your glasses, do so carefully to keep your glasses in good condition. To replace lenses, remove the screws from your frames and push out the lenses. Place your new lenses into the frame, and replace the screws making sure they are tight and lenses are secure. ...read more
