Sadly this is one of those times a place is so dreadful I am compelled to write a review. STAY AWAY from Steinway Futon shop and go to any other furniture store on Steinway street. Liz, the saleswoman there will basically say anything to make a sale. I bought a wardrobe from them on Tuesday and they said they couldn't deliver for the next couple of days for the holidays. I explained I needed it delivered by Friday 12:00 pm since I was leaving town for the weekend and returning Tuesday with guests. Friday when I call them at 11:50am, Liz says their driver has not shown up and they will deliver another day. When I explained the only reason I bought anything from them was because they guaranteed delivery, we went back and forth a little, and she agreed to try and have it sent by 2:00pm. Of course that didn't happen and again after many calls, they agreed to deliver on Monday. I had to arrange for someone to come to our apartment while we were gone to accept the delivery. When I returned Tuesday we found that they had delivered completely the wrong item. I wanted a wardrobe with shelves, exactly like the one I had seen in their showroom but in a different color, and this had none. Liz, when I called her said at least it was white like I wanted so what was I complaining about? Also, that the furniture company didn't have any more of the kind I ordered so I have to just "keep quiet and live with it." No exchanges, no refunds, no promises to deliver when back in stock. The best part - her defense was that the previous week she had sold a desk to some lady and they got the wrong one, but they didn't complain. Clearly they regularly do this sort of stuff and really don't care about their customers. I have filed a complaint with Better Business Bureau and will take them to Small Claims Court if they don't respond. Avoid all the rudeness and hassle and just don't shop there. ...read more
