For whatever benefit it might be, here are my thoughts on gay marriage for those who are on the front lines of the culture wars. Cornell University School of Law says the equal protection clause does not provide equalities among individuals or groups; it demands equal application of the law. If that's so, then any state that defines marriage as a one man/one woman institution is NOT denying marriage equality to homosexuals, because they are free to marry a person of the opposite gender any time in all states. If gays are provided the same exact marriage model as heterosexuals, there is no discrimination and there IS equal application of the law. Barring a federal supremacy issue, Obama and other federal activists cannot interfere in or interpret state laws, because of the 10th amendment, the Eerie Doctrine and the Rules of Decisions Act.
