If you are 1. acting as your own publisher 2. think you might write more than one book 3. plan to publish an e-book AND a print book then check out the cost of ISBNs on www.myidentifiers.com. There are many options now for purchasing ISBN numbers but don't be foolish and buy just one for $125 and find out you can get 10 for $250. Smashwords also sells ISBNs for e-books for only $9.95 but that does not solve the issue of applying an ISBN for your print book.
