I brought my mac in for a factory recalled hard drive replacement, the owner of Mac-O-Rama which is a factory authorized repair business, told me that as long as there were no software issues the replacement would be covered by Apple and I would not be charged. When I went to pick up my computer they charged me $149.00 for labor and Apple pays them for the labor. In order to get my computer back I paid the $149.00. The owner said she needed to change me that since they used my external hard drive which I had backed up through time machine to put it back on the new hard drive, I told her that if I had known that I would have done it myself, I have done it in the past and it is very easy and quick to start the process. I have contacted Apple and filed a complaint since they are an Apple authorized repair business and would encourage anyone who thinks they have been over charged to do so. Apple also said in the notes submitted by Mac-O-Rama they made no mention of charging me for the replacement. I have also filed a dispute with my credit card company as this is clearly a fraudulent charge and I am sure others have had similar experiences and urge others to do so. Tomorrow I will contact the State Attorney Generals Office to file a complaint and also contact the better of Business Bureau and Chamber of Commerce and urge others who have had similar problems to do the same. ...read more
