Reasons to Switch to a Clycerin Soap

Reasons to Switch from Traditional Soap to Glycerin Soap Date Published: 17th June 2009 Author: NancyBrown RSS Views: 320 PRINT ASK ABOUT THIS ARTICLE Most people use traditional bar soaps for cleansing their skin during a bath or shower. However, these soaps are not the best option because they can contain harsh chemicals that dry out the skin. If you have children, these soaps can even be harmful if a child happens to swallow a piece while bathing. A better alternative to traditional bar soap is glycerin soap. There are several reasons you should consider switching from traditional soap to glycerin soap. Glycerin Soap is Safer Than Traditional Soap As outlined above, traditional soap can contain chemicals that can be harmful or irritating to the skin. Using them on a daily basis can cause skin dryness, itching, and rashes. Switching to glycerin soap means that you will be using a soap product that contains gentle ingredients, and is less likely to irritate the skin. Using glycerin soap instead of traditional soap can help calm existing skin conditions and prevent new ones from forming due to irritation. Glycerin Soap is Better for the Environment The harsh chemicals contained in traditional soaps can be bad for the environment, especially because they can get into the water supply. Eliminating these chemicals from your life can help you be kinder to the environment. Glycerin soap contains glycerin and other gentle ingredients, and is safer for the environment than traditional soaps. Glycerin Soap Softens the Skin The chemicals contained in traditional soaps can dry out the skin and make it rough and itchy. Switching from a product filled with chemicals to a product that softens the skin can help reduce this irritation. Glycerin soaps are very slippery to the touch because they contain ingredients that soften the skin and keep it smooth and supple. Glycerin is a humectants that binds the moisture to your skin. After using glycerin soap for a period of time, you'll start to notice that your skin is smoother and softer. Glycerin Soap Comes in a Variety of Scents and Colors Traditional bar soaps are fine for cleansing purposes, but you can't use them to decorate your bathroom like you can with glycerin soap. Soap made from glycerin can be made in a number of scents so that you can pick your favorite scents and use them to relax, get more energy, or wash off the stress of a long day. Glycerin soaps also come in a variety of colors, which means that you can use them to complement the decor of your bathroom. You can choose matching colors or you can choose different colored soaps that will complement the color scheme you have chosen for your bathroom. Because glycerin soap has many benefits, you should consider making the switch from traditional bar soap to soap made from glycerin. If you are worried about making the switch, start using glycerin soap just a few days per week. Once you see how much better your skin looks and feels, you'll be ready to make the switch permanent and continue reaping the benefits of this type of soap. ...read more

Elements From the Earth

In my lifetime, I have always felt that using natural products, taking vitamins and reading ingredients has been very important for our overall health. Reading ingredients helps you know what is in your products, even food. So what I write here, hopefully, will help you understand certain things about the products I sell. I have done lots of research on various ingredients in products and do list some information on my Facebook page. When you think "natural ingredients," not everything you read is considered natural, even in the health food industry. That is why it is so important to read labels. Did you know that colors that are everywhere in our products oftentimes are not natural? Some of them are made from chemicals. Fortunately, some companies are learning this and taking certain chemicals out of their products. Knowing this, would you want to keep using products that have chemicals? There are lesser of the two evils out there. Fragrance oils are synthetically produced in a lab. They can be petroleum based. Certain chemicals in products can cause allergies, headaches and might even trigger asthma, by smell or through the skin. I am a nail technician by trade and I can list every type of chemical that occurs in the Nail Industry and what could happen long term. But we would be writing a book. Everyday consumers just don't know or read about it. There is always a lesser of two evils. For me personally, as well as for my products, I prefer to use Pure Essential Oils and colorants that are from Botanicals from the Earth. I'm not saying that you can't be allergic to Pure Essential Oils, because anyone can be sensitive to anything out there. Just take note what is listed in ingredients of products you are using. They are made from plants, and if you have an allergy to a certain plant, then that scent won't work for you. Botanical Colors is what I use in my soaps. which means colors that are made from the Earth. Such as annatto seed powder, which can turn a soap a pretty orange, or chlorella powder, which can turn soap green. Natural tea can turn soap a light brown, even a light burgundy color. This is what I prefer to use. We see commercials everywhere that use tons of colors to attract the consumer, particularly in food. Red dyes are one of them and it's in food everywhere. Some people are highly allergic to this one. We really don't need dyes in our products; it really doesn't have any value for us that would be good! Heavy metals can be found in certain iron oxides. A company I wrote to told me that "Mica is a natural element found in the Earth and it is white in color." The unnatural comes from the colors they add to it. Pigments are also naturally occurring minerals from the Earth. But today most pigments are made synthetically instead of mined. They may carry heavy metals in it. But there are companies out there that screen there metal content which are FDA approved. So for me, knowing what I know, I choose to use plants from the Earth that are safe. Botanicals. I may not have the brightest colored soaps out there or candles but to me that is more important. The less toxins or chemicals absorbed into the body the better. Soaps that are in big chained stores contain detergents and a lot of times are stripped of glycerin, which helps retain moisture on your skin. Pick up a bar of soap you may have hanging around and look up your ingredients and do your research. You will be surprised what you find! So I hope what I have written here may help you be more aware of certain chemicals in products. What I hand-make, I take pride in making. I want it to be as good to our bodies as possible!!! You Really Do Get What You Pay For!

As a Nail Technician for the last 14 years in Las Vegas Nevada and Southern California I have noticed that thru the years people have taken a step back and visited the smaller Nail Shacks rather then visit a full service salon. I have worked in full service salons all of my career, I pride myself on the sanitation precautions that I take to assure that my clients receive not only a great service but a safe service too.  I have been guilty of visiting the Nail Shacks in town and have paid the same price as I would have charged a client and didn't receive half the service that I would have given a client. I hear so many time "Oh you charge alot" , my reply to that is "Really how much would you pay to receive a quality service that when you walked away, you felt as if you really got your monies worth?"  I have heard horror story after horror story about how some inexperienced manicurist either clipped or cut into their skin, used a instrument that didn't look clean, not exactly sure that they even cleaned the pedicure bowl after each client, or had to see a doctor after their visit to the salon cause they got an infection. All I'm trying to say is that You Really Do Get What You Pay For...if it's cheap then that's what your gonna get, a Cheap service that you could probably have done at home, if you pay a little more you just might get a Quality Service from a experienced technician! ...read more

Winter Blues

Hello, Is anyone out there starting to feel the Winter Blues early?  Or maybe just alittle blue because of all that is going on in our country these days, like myself.  If so you should really contact me, you would be amazed how much a little you time can help reduce what most of us are feeling.  I love making people feel good and seeing a smile on their face after they get their nails or feet done.  Also the excitment when they are trying to pick a polish color or an acrylic color to put on.  Besides all of that I was called quit a few years ago "one of the cheapest therapist" my client has ever had.  It took me a little while to relize what she meant.  I know now my clients can talk to me about anything, we do laugh more than anything, and then there are times they know they can cry if needed.  So I hope to hear from all of you, so you as well can be added to my fun & happy list of clients. Thanx, Trish   (702)289-8223 ...read more
