BC Madison Gulli, MS, MFT-I, CADC- I

If I could give her a 0, I would. Madison manipulated the situation by suggesting that our marriage therapy would be better served by individual sessions. She then charged us each, doubling her payment, all while giving each of us different and conflicting advice on how to resolve our communication issues. I understand that it might be wise to try different approaches for different personalities, but her suggestions only caused more friction as they were so vastly conflicting when explained to us individually. If her intent was to spin us in circles by trying to figure out what the other was thinking during her 'therapeutic role playing' sessions, and further complicate the communication in our relationship, then she succeeded. She went so far as to inappropriately suggest that we go to a brothel together to 'ignite our spark'. I suppose her degree didn't teach her that marriage is a sacred vow and a bond, not intended to be shared with strangers in a live sex act. We originally sought help for couples counseling, not individual assistance; but we went along with her tactics at first, thinking that she was the professional and we were paying for her time. Yet, she did not disclose that she must report to a supervisor and can not yet practice autonomously. She is not trustworthy. I would only recommend her to patients seeking a reason for divorce, not patients seeking real help for real marriage communication issues. She should not be allowed to practice. ...read more

Jon Jones Courageously Enters Rehab

UFC's light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, decided that entering rehab is the best choice for him after a failed drug test showed cocaine abuse. Even though the UFC and the Nevada Athletic Commission did not take any disciplinary action when Jones tested positive for cocaine on a random drug test, due to the fact that he was not at the time in competition, Jones took it upon himself to seek out and admit himself to treatment at a rehabilitation facility. It takes tremendous courage to take the first step and seek help for any addiction, hopefully others take Jones' lead and find treatment as well. http://bit.ly/1w1hybw ...read more

Anti-Craving Alcohol Dependence Medication Under Development

Researchers at the National Institutes of Health are currently in the process of testing a new treatment method for helping heavy drinkers cut back, or even eliminate cravings all together. The treatment is a medication in pill form that in theory, should lessen cravings for alcohol a drinker will experience. The pill being tested is a form of ghrenlin, which is a hormone already naturally produced in the stomach that controls appetite via receptors located in the brain. The researchers discovered a direct connection between the receptors that fuel overeating and the receptors that control cravings for alcohol located in the brain’s reward system.
