Of course prison bars can be anyone's hell: abuse, addiction, depression, fear, devastation or any tragedy. A person's suffering is deep within their own heart. Our religious and inspirational cards provide a ray of light to anyone suffering. As a mother, I am reaching out to others dealing with pain. Families dealing with the pain of drug use, incarceration and other private struggles can find hope just as I did, through inspirational cards. We had started this business inspired by our daughter who had been in and out of juvenile to judicial system for over 15 years. After visiting her in prison (in 2012) for the first time, we realized there is hope. Our intention is to help fractured families and people suffering in their own prisons, as prison could be something that lies deep in ones own heart. These cards entitled, Behind These Bars, designed by me, a mother with the pain of having had my own daughter in prison, were inspired by my first visit with her in prison. From that moment on, I realized there was hope and I wanted to share that hope with anyone going through the same experience. Prison can be something deep in one's own heart and not just those who are incarcerated. Providing a ray of hope can mean everything at their time of need. These inspirational cards are from the heart and will include a Bible verse on every one. Whether it's a family dealing with the pain of drug abuse, incarceration or any other private struggles, these cards will provide a message of hope and help with healing the heart. As a US Army Clinical/Holistic Social Worker for the past 3 years in the premier Ft Bliss Restoration and Resilience Center, I am convinced that the stress, anxiety and depression is induced by a natural response to War Trauma and is not a disorder or disease. While engaged 24/7, hunting down the invisible enemy, killing or be killed, along with the extensive and multiple deployments, provides a horrendous experience and unnatural, harsh and inhumane environment for the human being to endure without injury. While our Self Preservation Instinct and Relations System need to know, every moment, "am I safe and secure," and having to respond to the question, "who am I with? Friend or Foe?" Every system is overwhelmed and this deep whole body, mind, emotion, spirit(compassion&empathy)and social (society-family & friends) system has totally been affected and injured to the core. Furthermore, it is essential for the injured warrior, health practitioners and therapists to reach deeply into the whole being to restore health, wellbeing and their resilience. Conventional therapy and pills only provide temporary relief. It is for this reason that all integrative and holistic health methods, with evidence based research, must be intensively provided and extensively offered.
