Bloomfield is a city in San Juan County and is part of the Farmington MSA, known for its proximity to the Four Corners and rich history. Major employers include San Juan Regional Medical Center, San Juan College, and BHP Mineral and BHP Billiton. Students attend Bloomfield Schools. Hobby historians of all ages enjoy touring the 11th Century Chacoan Greathouse of Salmon Ruins, which also features the homestead of past resident George Salmon as well as replicas of a tipi, sweatlodge, and hogan. The historic site is part of May's Heritage Preservation Month Annual Pueblito Tour. Other attractions are water sports on Navajo Lake or sampling a green chile burger at Blake's Lotaburger. This spicy concoction is featured on the official Green Chile Cheeseburger Trail, sponsored by the New Mexico Tourist Board.
