When cold and snow causes fire and soot.Most fire departments experience a sharp increase in residential fires during cold and windy snow storms. This is commonly caused by overloaded lighting circuits that have portable space heaters plugged into them. The problem is that they are usually turned all the way to maximum wattage and temperature settings. The heater draws more energy than the circuit was designed for.
