Welcome!

Hello, Welcome to the blog for my store, Gingham & Gingerbread Gifts.  We are located in Pitman, NJ across from McCowan Memorial Library, where we opened in February 2007.  I have always wanted to own a small retail store such as this, and it has been an exciting venture so far!  I have found some great vendors to work with, and I also make some of the items I sell.  I have been making glycerin soap for years, and have recently learned how to make bath salts.  I also have a vendor who makes some other vegan and olive oil based soaps for me to retail. In addition, I carry soy lotion, goat's milk lotion, shower gel, and body mist. I have a wide variety of country and primative style collectibles and gifts.  This ranges from pins, figurines, and stuffed animals, to barn stars and wall signs.  One of my favorite items to sell are soy candles.  These candles are great because they are virtually soot free (great for those of us with allergies/asthma!), burn at a cooler temperature than regular candles (so they burn longer), and best of all...the wax can be cleaned up with soap and water!  Yes, it's true!  I was skeptical, but can tell you that I tried it myself and it worked- just put some water on a paper towel and wipe the spilled soy wax right up, leaving no yucky residue!  It's amazing. Starting in Fall 2007, I am going to offer all 95+ scents of soy candles for customer special order. I will have samples of each scent displayed in the store, and customers may order the scents of their choice in either jar candle, button melt, or votive styles.  Soy lotion, shower gel, body mist and goat's milk lotion will also be offered for customer special order.  I am hoping this format, which offers more options for you, my valued customers, will be successful. Stop in to the store at 24 Pitman Avenue in Pitman, NJ to see what we have to offer! -Phebe Dickson ...read more
