Bernadette Flaim and Susan Corbo owners of Attention2Detail, LLC in Leonia, New Jersey were honored as the 2009 Business Women of the Year by the Bergen chapter of the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners (NJAWBO). The award was given at the chapter's annual awards dinner on June 17 at the Holiday Inn in Hasbrouck Heights. This is the first time two women have been awarded the prestigious designation from the Bergen NJAWBO chapter. "We are thrilled to be honored as the 2009 Business Women of the Year," said Corbo, who started the interior redesign and real estate staging business with Flaim in 2004 . "We value our membership in this wonderful organization and it means so much to us to be recognized by other women business owners," added Flaim. Corbo and Flaim, whose varied backgrounds both include event planning, combined their past experience and their shared passion for interior design to form Attention2Detail in 2004. Together, they capitalize on Flaim's creative strengths and marketing expertise, and Corbo's extensive experience in interior design and space planning, to provide a full spectrum of interior design services including redesign, real estate staging, space planning and organizing. They are accredited in real estate staging and are certified in interior redesign. The business partners have been members of the Bergen chapter of the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners since 2004, and got active in chapter activities early on. Flaim serves as Vice President of Corporate Relations and Corbo is on the chapter's Programming Committee. "Our chapter and the wider community have definitely benefited from the fruits of Bernadette and Sue's creative flair and efforts," said Joan Lefford, former Bergen chapter president. "Their extensive help on one fundraising project, where they wrapped nearly 200 gifts for an auction, helped us raise over $10,000 for a local charity, and Bernadette has been instrumental in bringing in corporate sponsors to support the Bergen chapter and our events," she added. Corbo and Flaim were also recognized for their volunteer efforts in designing and staging the Career Closet at the Women's Rights Information Center in Englewood, where low-income women can select interview outfits for free as they prepare to enter the work force. In addition to their membership in NJAWBO, Corbo and Flaim are also members of the National Association of Professional Organizers, the Interior Redesign Industry Specialist Association and the Real Estate Staging Association, where they serve respectively on the board as Treasurer and Secretary.
