SCSI HD is hard drive that transfers data using SCSI channel. It is comprehensively used in workstations becauseof its excellent quality and high stability. Seagate, Maxtor, FUJITSU and IBM are the four main stream manufactures of SCSI drives in nowadays which occupies 90% market share. SCSI HD is expensive, with the same capacity SCSI drive costs several times more than IDE drive, so basically SCSI HD is mainly used on servers and workstations. And because of the above, inevitably a fair high failure rate for such kind of drives due its long working hours, fast RPM, overheating and so on. Many professionals have been beset by this problem for a long time. A lot ofdata recoverycompanies have been trying to find out a solution for a few years, but there is barely success. At the end of November 2008, SalvationDATA achieved another new accomplishment: the core technology needed for drive-based data recovery from SCSI drives. This technology covers operations like firmware read and write as well as the restoration of malfunctions like non-accessible sectors, media read error, drive undetected and so on, towards SCSI drives manufactured by Seagate, Maxtor, IBM/Hitachi and Fujitsu, which is a critical step forward in releasing foundation for SCSI drive data recovery solution. At present, the solution for SCSI drives is being worked on by SalvationDATA. The new SCSI solution will be released to the customers worldwide as soon as the follow-up R&D; gets accomplished. It will be an unprecedented solution for easy data recovery from damaged SCSI hard drives of all manufacturers.Meanwhile, research on SAS (also known as serial SCSI) drives is also in process and a significant breakthrough has been achieved, we believe that it won’t be long for SalvationDATA to release the world’s first SAS solution. Extra To-Know: SCSI is short for Small Computer System Interface, which is quite different interface from IDE (ATA). IDE is the standard interface for ordinary PC. As for SCSI, it is not an interface specially designed for hard drives but a high-speed data transmission technology widely used on Minicomputer. SCSI has advantages like broad application, multitasking, large bandwidth, high speed, good stability, low CPU occupancy and PnP. However, it is not as affordable as IDE to make it into common use. Therefore, SCSI drive is mainly applied to high-end servers and workstations. SCSI has been in the market for over 20 years, there were derivates like SCSI-1, Fast SCSI, FAST-WIDE-SCSI-2, Ultra SCSI, Ultra2 SCSI, Ultra160 SCSI, Ultra320 SCSI, etc. Among them, the most popularly used are Ultra160 SCSI and Ultra320 SCSI nowadays.
