Leonia Medical Associates

I've been a patient of Leonia Medical for the past 13 years & must admit that I DREAD having to go there for exams, checkups, or any medical reason at all. Granted, you're not always feeling your best when calling a drs office and due to this, you might easily be offended, but the staff here is not only constantly rude, short & curt on the phone but they bring a whole new feeling of discomfort to you when you arrive in person. Everything from scheduling an appt, checking-in for your appt, presenting your insurance i.d. etc is always a hassle. And Lord help you if you're not ready to come up with the co-pay before seeing the Dr. Clearly they don't like their jobs or have any tolerance for dealing with the public. After you're checked in & it's time to visit the actual doctor, you really need to have some thick skin if you're a patient of Dr. Kocher. I can't speak to the other doctors on staff in this group practice who might actually be Prince Charmings, but wow, Dr. Kocher missed the class on Beside Manner 101 during his medical schooling. While he seems to be very well versed & experienced in the world of medicine, he's abrupt & condescending when (barely) holding a conversation with you. I've never left feeling good about myself; mostly due to the fact that he speaks down to you during your entire time with him & then bolts out the door as if the room is on fire (never looking back to see if his patient has escaped). I'm sure there must be some well-mannered, happy individuals employed at Leonia Medical, but unfortunately, I haven't met them yet. Might be time for me to find a new physician's office. One where I don't leave feeling worse than when I arrived. ...read more

I had a surgical abortion and was told my insurance would cover a significant amount of the procedure, yet that was a complete lie (I would later find out my insurance covered absolutely nothing). Additionally, 6 months after the procedure, I continue to feel a continuous sharp pain where implantation occurred. But, I guess that's the price you pay. ...read more

Prior to coming to Metropolitan Medical Associates I was planning to go to a Planned Parenthood. The staff at the Planned Parenthood were extremely rude and on top of that wanted to charge $700 for their services. They were reluctant to help me or make the process any easier for me knowing that I am a full time student, do not work a full time job, and have no medical insurance. \t\n\t\nVery distraught over my experience there, I thankfully came across Met. Med. Associates in an online search. I called and spoke to staff who were extrememly helpful. They were able to answer all of my questions and if someone couldn't, they put someone on the line who could. \t\n\t\nWhen I went in for my scheduled appointment I was taken in to start the process in a timely manner, did not have to wait long at all. I felt like it was a judgement free place because everyone is there for the same reasons. The staff never once questioned my decision or tried to sway me into chosing a different route. The staff was very attentive and always asking if I had any questions, eager to help, which is always nice. The cost was extremely reasonable ($390) with everything included: lab work, procedure, follow-up, etc. \t\n\t\nI think this is a great place for women to go when they need services and if they have any questions at all regarding abortions and pregnancy. ...read more
