I love Meg's website. Her photos and videos are so "real". I follow her links to sites where she is able to store more about her business and I love each and every one of the links. Kudos to her for what she does for families and their dogs. Her knowledge and passion exude from her site and meeting her in person. ...read more

Dogs who get to join Meg's group of dogs have a gift in their lives. Dogs who get outside to enjoy everything she offers are the fortunate ones. Too bad she can only service Hollis and the surrounding area. ...read more

Among the highest compliments we can pay anyone around here is to call them a "dog person". That doesn't mean an unduly attentive or pampering pet caretaker, it means an out-in-the-woods, on-the-trail, hike rain-or-shine, my-dog-and-me-together person. I knew Meg Hardy was a dog person five minutes into our first conversation. Tika knew it the moment she met Meg. We are delighted to have found Meg Hardy and her Hike-A-Dog walking and boarding services. Tika has never been in better hands when overnight boarding is necessary and the weekday off-leash hikes with other dogs has provided the exercise and social activity required to keep her healthy and happy. --Mike ...read more

Dogs Enjoying New Snow

We love hiking in the cold, crisp air in Hollis. Snowstorms make us happy because we get to hike off the beaten track through the woods which are too filled with underbrush to wander through during the other months of the year. In this photo we are on the trail right after a snowstorm before the snowmobiles have gotten out and flattened it down.  ...read more

Hiking in Deep Snow in NH with Dogs

Here is a note I sent to an owner today. It tells a tiny piece of the story about how I snowshoed with three dogs through yet another seven inches of snow.  "As I told you, Sophie was such a trooper today. Emma( my 10 year old Golden), Sophie and I took turns forging the way through deep snow. My male, age 7, Cabot, left it all up to the females. When I asked him to go ahead he would push through about 10 feet of snow and then find a distraction of a twig or something to chew on.. leaving us females to push ahead and him to follow in our packed down trail. What a ?????. How could he leave all the excruciating trail blazing to us?" Fun for all. A vigorous workout! I think we burn twice the calories (at least) when we work our way through snow. At least I justify less time out hiking due to the exhausting nature of blazing trails in deep snow.  Meg Hardy Hike a Pup Pet Sitting  Hollis, NH 03049 ...read more

New Year at Hike a Pup Pet Sitting

I am just back from a family trip to Egypt. After being surrounded by Sahara sands I am now snowshoeing with the pups through knee high swirling snow. It reminds me of the sand in Egypt... except now I am in 30 degree weather in wet, cold, snow, rather than warm, desert, dry air.  The small dogs are wearing their jackets and on the days they join us I find trails that are packed down so their tummies do not rub. When only the big dogs are out with me we have a blast slogging through virgin snow off trails away from noise and "traffic". Some of my best hiking memories are during the winter, off trail after storms.  I hope you and your dogs are enjoying the new snow and looking forward to a winter filled with it.  Meg Hardy  hikeapup.webs.com ...read more
