Town Delivery Inc

Delivery person Howard Jones managed to hit my neighbor's tree with his truck. He then proceeded to leave. After a while he returned and picked up the large branch he clipped off of the tree and departed with it. All without stopping and explaining what happened to anyone. There were three witnesses that made me aware of the situation. Our neighborhood is full of beautiful trees that cost money to maintain. To not even acknowledge the hit and run was terrible. As the delivery was to my house, I was responsible for getting the tree looked at and fixed up by an arborist. I called SEKO/Town Delivery at 402-342-0486 and a manager named Cody Liekers got on the phone and proceeded to rudely tell me that it is tough luck that it happened. She stated: 1.He picked up the branch and thats all he needed to do 2. No I may not speak with the owner of the company, she will not bother him for this 3. It isn't their problem that a tree was there (went on to assume it was a low-hanging branch, which it wasn't- the branch in question is as large as many small tree trunks) Cody was so rude, mean, dismissive that I couldn't believe I was the customer here. How do you speak to someone on the phone and attempt to take no responsibility for a hit and run (Doesn't matter that it was a tree- it still cost ME money to repair for my neighbor)? She turned it around and made it OUR PROBLEM that a tree was planted there and that it possibly was hanging too low! I expected accountability and an apology and was surprised to be the bad guy... ...read more

REASONS WHY OUTSOURCING LOGISTICS IS REPLACING “INSOURCING”

According to Inbound Logistics, 91 percent of service providers grew their client base by at least 5 percent last year. And with this number on a steady rise since 2010, it is easy to see why so many of them are turning to 3PLs to outsourcing logistics. While shippers are busy growing their core business, they understand it's time to leave the logistics up to someone else. Why is outsourcing continuing to grow at such a great rate? Outside of the heavy investment toward innovation, 3PLs are all about building efficiencies–and we've been working hard to make our process as efficient as possible. If you're curious about outsourcing logistics, see the 3 main reasons service providers across all industries are choosing outsourcing to get the job done right: 1. We are the Subject Matter Experts When you choose outsourcing logistics, you can focus on what you do best: making and selling products. There's no need to worry about how things get from point A to B and all of the nuances in between. Words like MercuryGate, TMS, DCC, freight brokerage, and integrated supply chain solutions are all a part of the acronyms and jargon we deal with so you can get back to running your business. With every client, we focus on developing partnerships that fit their specific industry needs. Solutions are customized in order to evolve their supply chain from an operating cost to a competitive advantage. Enabling a 3PL to leverage their industry experience and best practices allows your company to focus on your product while we handle the rest. 2. Better Performance and Quality When it comes down to it, 3PL providers are all about creating efficiencies in every step of the supply chain. We focus on continuous improvements for quality management and Lean Six Sigma disciplines. And when we do this, we create a cohesive strategy that increases quality and performance across the board. Whether you need storage space and inventory management, or you operate an enterprise level company that needs dirt-to-dirt logistics, handing over the reins of your logistics, distribution, and inventories allows the cohesive strategies to really start working. If you hit a road block, like needing more distribution space, 3PLs are already prepared with the knowledge and capacity to solve your problem quickly. We know how to solve your problem the right way, on the first try. If you produce more product, we will move more product. 3PLs will grow with your company to make sure everything is operating as efficiently as possible. Take inventory, for example: We can review your existing equipment, current utilization, and areas of need and budget. Then, we can offer recommendations on what product type, brand, and model you should use to best fit your operational and budgetary requirements, all while making you more efficient. We understand the outsourcing value proposition has to be better than the insourcing cost, and that's why Nebraska Warehouse often sets up pain/gain share arrangements to provide a quality, world-class service that's backed by a guarantee. 3. Data Is Plentiful, Information Is Scarce Nowadays, every company is collecting some sort of data. Whether it be about users or operations, the most important part of data is analyzing it to get the best information out of it. Decades of industry experience have helped us understand our clients quickly and establish smart benchmarks based around the right data points for each company. We provide analytics every step of the way to share knowledge—by providing you with the rightinformation, we can execute the right plans at the right times together. Tools like data integration, visual modeling, and multi-dimensional analytics are just a small part of the visibility between the Warehouse, Yard, Order, Labor and Transportation management system data libraries. By crunching all of this data, you get the best information laid out in a simple report–no work needed on your end. To Sum It All Up 3PLs have seen amazing industry growth because we know how to best handle our industry: supply chain logistics. Years and years of learning the best practices and how to handle all the bumps along the way has put 3PLs in a place that provide some of the best data analytics out there, with performance and quality of service to match. ...read more

10 Technology Apps Make Workday More Efficient

If you’re running a business, working in a business, or trying to be better at your job, then you probably want to be more efficient. It’s not something that you sacrifice health and happiness to achieve (got to have that balance), but being more efficient in your workday is probably something that you think about on your hours out of the office. Regardless of your industry, there’s a lot to do. Technology has made a lot of new things possible. Knowing all this, we’ve compiled 10 Technology Apps To Make Your Workday More Efficient. Most of these are technology apps that you can download to your smartphone or desktop computer. Some will integrate with others apps. Some you might have heard of, and others might be new to you. What they all have in common is that they should make your more efficient in your workday. We hope you find these technology apps as helpful as we do: Technology Apps 1. Basecamp 3 Basecamp 3 is a web-based collaboration application designed to help groups work together. Each “basecamp” is divided into six parts: group chat, message boards, to-do lists, schedule, check-ins, and docs & files. You can utilize these tools in a variety of ways to communicate with your employees and team members, whether they’re working remotely, or in the office next door. It’s best used as a mode of communication, rather than focusing on one or two niche items, so it’s best to think big picture with Basecamp 3. 2. Boomerang Boomerang works with Gmail to let you schedule emails, set follow-up reminders, and helps to clean up your inbox. This is a crazy great tool for the busy folks among us (AKA…everybody). Boomerang allows you to control time (at least in terms of your Gmail) so that you can focus your energies and efforts on the things that make you or your business run. Think about it: you can write birthday or holiday notes and then set them to send months in advance. Communicate with others in different time zones. Write the email when you have the time, and set it to send at that moment so you don’t forget. You can even schedule emails to come back to the top of your inbox if you haven’t received a reply. This makes Boomerang and INCREDIBLE tool for outreach. 3. Join.me Growing technology has allowed more people to work remotely than ever before. But meetings still need to happen (of course they do!). Join.me is a tool designed to connect multiple people from different locations using audio conferencing, video conferencing, and screen sharing. Join.me allows users to set up conference calls for multiple teams, bringing everyone together regardless of their physical location. Now, there’s a lot of these tools. Why Join.me? Number one, it’s fast and easy to use. It doesn’t require any sort of download to a device, and the quality of the audio and video component (not to mention the screen sharing) is top notch. Number two, it’s affordable! The basic package is free, and the upgrades will give you more options at a reasonable price. After setting up a meeting you can change presenters, change screen views, and loads of other stuff to make sure your meeting is as smooth and productive as possible. 4. Mailchimp When it comes to email marketing, Mailchimp is top of the class. But what does Mailchimp do? Lots of things. Number one, it sets you up with a template for your email campaign, all you have to do is provide the recipients. Mailchimp also tracks data such as open and bounce rates, not to mention integrating into systems that you’re probably already using such as Google Analytics or Pardot. With this information, Mailchimp makes it easy to craft unique content based on what your subscribers are most interested in. 5. Producteev Producteev is task management software, designed to get the most out of multiple teams. While something like Basecamp 3 revolves more around team communication, Producteev’s strengths lie in the micro part of the map. Producteev is excellent at setting up recurring tasks and deadlines for individuals or teams, with an easy to use tag system that makes it easy to recognize who’s taking care of what. The software is especially great if you’re on the run, with apps for the iPhone, iPad, and Android, as well as integration with your Mac desktop. 6. Trello Trello is an online tool used to manage projects and personal tasks. Think of a giant “to-do” board, maybe a huge dry erase board in your office. On this board you have all your projects displayed, and all team members can edit and update the board as they progress through their projects. This is what Trello is trying to do, but by putting it online, making it accessible from anywhere. Per their website, Trello adapts to your project, team, and workflow. This means you can set due dates, checklists, or whatever, and it will all be updated, to your whole team, in real-time. 7. Roboform Do you constantly forget your passwords? Of course you do! Everyone does! That’s like asking if you like Beyonce (of course you do…everyone does…repeat after me). Roboform aims to solve the problem of passwords by consolidating all your passwords into one master password, essentially providing you with the increased security that comes with lots of different passwords, even though you only have to remember the one. It’s brilliant. Of course, this also applies to your usernames. Roboform can also autofill your name, address, contact info, and other information when you’re filling out forms from shipping to signup. Roboform also syncs information between all your devices, so you’re never locked out of a site. 8. Simplenote The days of the pen and yellow legal pad are over. Or they should be (do it for the trees!). And even if you are still an aficiando of the old fashioned pen and paper, in today’s mobile world you’re probably jotting down notes on your iPad or smart phone. Enter Simplenote. It’s fast. It’s easy to use. And it syncs (reliably) between your devices. Why carry around a notepad and pen to write your ideas, when you can put them on your phone (which you’re carrying around anyway). Simplenote is basic and easy to use, just like a blank sheet of paper should be. 9. Unroll.Me Unroll.Me is an app designed to erase clutter and organize your email. Does that sound like something that might make your life easier? Give you more time on the things that matter? Of course! Unroll.Me is a great tool to clean up the dreaded inbox. If you’ve been using the same email address for years, you know the amount of unwanted email that you get on a daily basis. And you know the feeling of dread when you have to go through ten steps to unsubscribe from lists that you don’t remember joining in the first place. It’s a pain, and it takes time. Unroll.Me makes it very easy to unsubscribe from email lists that you don’t want in your inbox, whether you’re on your computer or mobile device. It also erases clutter by “rolling up” emails that you select, delivering them to you in one singly daily digest. 10. Google Drive Google Drive is all about storing your files in THE CLOUD (I always think THE CLOUD sounds pretty ominous…but it ain’t). Like Google, Drive is ubiquitous the world over. Through Drive you can work on the vast array of Google services such as Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Calendars (among other things). Google Drive makes it easy to update and communicate with multiple team members on documents from wherever. Anytime. Anyplace. If you’re already using Gmail for your email, Drive makes it easy to search for any file you need, whether it’s a shared spreadsheet with your team, or some personal photos from your recent vacation. There are some competing platforms such as Dropbox (a VERY successful company in its own right), but none will have the ability to streamline and keep all your stuff in one place the way that Google Drive can. ...read more

12 TIPS FOR SAVING MONEY ON SHIPPING COSTS

Everyone wants to save money on shipping costs. No great secret there. At Nebraska Warehouse, we’re committed to helping our customers, and their customers (and really anyone that’s interested in shipping) save time and money on their logistics. To that end, we’ve compiled a list of 12 Genius Tips for Saving Money on Your Shipping Costs. We’ve categorized them for easy digestion between the General Freight Industry, Less-Than-Truckload (LTL), and Full Truckload, but you’ll find that most of our tips can be used in any form of shipping. Shipping Costs 1. Reuse Your Packing Materials It’s easy to save and reuse bubble wrap, packing peanuts, air pillows, and any other sort of packing materials you might get in your next online retail purchase. Anything you save and reuse is something you don’t have to buy. 2. Don’t Spend Money on Cardboard Boxes With a little effort and ingenuity, you can find these bad boys all sorts of places. Hit up liquor stores, grocery stores, and places like Starbucks to help save the environment and cut costs. Brand new cardboard boxes are expensive, and used ones usually work just as well. 3. Make Sure Your Freight is Ready Before Scheduling a Pickup Shipping is not like calling a cab or Uber. You can’t get your freight ready to ship while the driver is on his way. Make sure your freight is ready to go, or else you might end up with a dry run fee, and that can cost you cash. 4. Shop Around on Volume Quotes Not all volume quotes are created equal. Some freight companies specialize in large markets, small markets, or particular geographic locations. Start your quote search early, and try to find your best deal. 5. Lighten Up Weight is a major component of pricing in shipping, so avoid heavy packing materials. Go with packing peanuts instead of wool blankets. Anything you can do to cut down on the total weight of your shipment is going to help you get a cheaper freight quote. 6. Get Third Party Insurance It might cost a little more up front, but if you’re shipping expensive or fragile items it will make all the difference if something gets lost or damaged during transit. Most carriers have their own freight insurance, but it rarely covers the full cost of a damaged shipment. Getting third party insurance gives you peace of mind, and makes filing a freight claim much easier. 7. Consolidate Your Shipment Packaging items together can significantly cut down on shipping and packaging costs. By consolidating your shipment you can cut weight, density, and a chance of damage or loss. It’s easier to keep track of one piece of freight than it is to keep track of five or ten (especially if they’re small boxes). 8. Determine if Your Shipment is LTL or Parcel If your shipment is small enough, you can save money using small package or parcel shipping instead of LTL. Parcel shipping is a totally different animal than LTL, so it’s important to recognize the difference between the two. 9. Hire a Professional Freight brokers can get you better shipping quotes, not to mention they can help out with claims, damage, tracking, and so much more. A freight broker is not the same as a freight carrier, and a professional freight broker is key no matter how often you’re shipping LTL or (especially) full truckload freight. 10. Ship Early to Avoid the Holiday Crunch Avoid delays and expedited costs by shipping at least a week early around the holidays. Both LTL and truckload slow down as drivers and carriers take take off work for the holidays. Don’t wait to send your stuff. 11. Know How Much Room You Need Always know how many square feet of truck space you’ll need. There is always the chance of “Partialling” a shipment to save money, but if you don’t know exactly how much space your freight will take up then that won’t be an option. If you’re using standard pallets (you should be), know your count and if they’re stackable. 12. Don’t Forget About Intermodal If your freight is not time sensitive you can save some serious dough by utilizing the rail and shipping your stuff intermodal. Contact Nebraska Warehouse to help you out with the intermodal process, but by using the rail you can get cheaper freight quotes for your full truckload shipments. ...read more
