So is it as simple as exercising more and eating less? Or should one be concerned about providing their body with the appropriate amounts of nutrients for life.... I think you know the answer!! Our organs; brain, heart, liver, kidneys, need calories (energy) to function properly. We get these calories by the food we eat and the drink we drink. If the calories we are consuming are empty (not nutritionally dense, but have high calories) we have given our body nothing to work with. Those organs don't function to the best of their ability.... ie. being tired, irritable, unable to concentrate etc. Eventually we develop health problems as a result of our poor nutritional habits. In science class we learned that all life requires water, and I hear far too often of individuals who don't drink water, yet drink 2-3 soft drinks & energy drinks on a daily basis. By drinking water we can decrease our blood pressure, prevent headaches, increase our energy, and lubricate our joints. We should drink 1/2 of our body weight in ounces everyday. If we are sweating or losing water by talking a lot we need to increase that number. So no it's not simple and if we don't eat enough healthy food... we don't burn fat. Having an excess of body fat is the concern, not necessarily weight. If you are increasing your muscle mass and decreasing body fat be proud of your accomplishments. Measure your body because inches lost is much more desireable than pounds lost if those pounds were from muscle. Take your body weight and determine how much is excess body fat. Focus on losing that amount in a reasonable amount of time. This way you can look at the fact that you need to lose 30 pounds and lost 6 pounds the first month, you are doing great and it will take 5 months to lose the extra baggage!!! ...read more
