Cape Fear Cleaning Solutions

5.0

By RebeccaPowell

Cape Fear Cleaning Solutions is the best! I've used them for a few years now and I love the job they do. I stay pretty busy so it's a relief to be able to just make an appointment and not have to stay home. I just leave them access to my home and come back to the most refreshing welcome. I know I can trust them not only with my home but, more importantly, with my dog who welcomes them on arrival. Now, if I could just get them to give him a bath during the same visit.... Thanks guys!! ...read more

Extreme Detail LLC

5.0

By Brooklyn563 at Citysearch

I was so impressed with my car when I picked it up from Extreme Detail! It looked almost new inside, and I didn't even get the full package! I'm looking forward to taking it back because I'm told they can make the interior look brand new, and after seeing what they did in the short amount of time they had my car previously, I believe it! Thanks so much!! ...read more

How Does Machine Polishing Work?

The number of marks removed depends on the existing safe levels of paint and which paint correction service is chosen. Basically, the technique removes microscopic amounts of the surface in order to smooth away problems. It could be likened to ultra fine sanding but when we talk about microscopic we are referring to a few microns (a micron is 1/1000th of a millimetre)! A combination of cleansers and polishes of various grades are applied to a car's paint using specifically designed buffing pads (there are many grades and types available) and either rotary or dual action polishers. Each stage is meticulously controlled and vigorously reinspected using specialist lamps and paint depth gauges. As you can probably tell, to be able to do the job properly requires being able to judge the existing condition of your car's paint and foresee likely issues before starting work. This requires not only the use of the right equipment, but also years of experience and an understanding of the many different paint systems used on cars. Machine polishing is also suitable for paint on older or classic cars which may not include a clearcoat. ...read more

What is a Sealant?

Paint sealants are liquids that contain manmade polymers, resins, and synthetics to mimic the properties of carnauba- based car waxes, but with greater longevity of protection (Generally 3-6 months) . Many paint sealants offer easy application processes. Auto detailing experts will tell you that most paint sealants do not offer the depth of shine that carnauba-based car waxes can provide. On the downside, there is no resemblance between the hard, plastic look of a paint sealant, and the warm and natural shine of the carnuaba wax. While some people like the glassy stare of the sealant, most car enthusiasts prefer the beauty of the carnauba. Choosing between them will depend upon whether you value functionality above appearance. ...read more

What is 'CARANUBA' WAX?

It is known as "queen of waxes" and usually comes in the form of hard yellow-brown flakes. It is obtained from the leaves of the carnauba palm by collecting and drying them, beating them to loosen the wax, then refining and bleaching the wax. It has a much higher melting point than other waxes and is also extremely hard. This makes it ideal for creating extremely strong coatings for floors, automobiles, and other things that see hard wear. In addition, this wax appears in candies, polishes, varnishes, cosmetic products, and in many other places. Although carnauba wax has largely been replaced by synthetics, it is still produced and used in many parts of the world. A temperature of 172°F (78°C) is required to melt carnauba wax. It is also not readily soluble. Water cannot break down a layer of this wax, and only certain solvents can, usually in combination with heat. This means that it is highly durable. Carnauba car wax is the hardest natural wax known to man. It’s produced by a palm tree in Brazil to coat its leaves and shield them from the intense tropical sun. It sheds water and its clear. The wax is harvested every year and graded according to its color, where it was grown, and its purity. The highest grade wax is put into car wax. ...read more

How to Detail Classic Car Engines

As classic cars engines age they get dirty. The dirt comes from use as oil circulates in the engine. In old engines the oil may find a way out from a seeping seal to the outside of the engine. The oil collects all sorts of dust and debris and makes the engine look old and beat up. You can make that cl... ...read more
