I tried to establish my kids as new patients and I failed. They take two weeks to return one's call and when they do, they are not civil. Their reason for not accepting my kids: they are patients elsewhere. Yes, elsewhere. And that elsewhere is pretty far away. Yet we'll have to drive that distance simply because Boice Willis is so full of, how do I put it delicately, manure.\t\nThey also have no idea when their doctors will be accepting new patients. and they hang up once they feel like they have said all they had to say. And what if one has questions, you say. Well, if you have questions and are trying to understand how this place functions, you will have to suck on it. Because Boice Willis Pediatrics office staff (and nurses) are surely NOT going to help you. \t\nExtremely disappointing experience. If you are looking to get established with a pediatrician in Rocky Mount, go elsewhere. It may be wonderful for those who are already in, but a very off-putting place for newcomers. ...read more

I love Dr. Mathes. He has taken care of me several times with kidney stones and as anyone knows, kidney stones are no laughing matter. I called the office on May 22 shortly before lunch when I found out my mother was sick with a kidney stone. She has a history of them and knew that's what was going on. Amanda answered the phone and told me Dr. Mathes was not there. She also went on to tell me the Dr. was overbooked for the day and she was trying to reschedule patients as we speak. I explained that my mother is a patient of record there and I work for a Dr. and I know sooner or later she will have to be seen by their practice. Amanda suggested my mother go to the ER. I explained that the ER will see her and suggest she follow up with an urologist. After she upset me and talked to me with such a nasty tone, my mother went to the ER. After 4 hours the Dr. there suggested she see her urologist ASAP. I do not know how someone like that can keep her job. ...read more

I have been to several urology groups in the past with kidney stones. Three infact. When you are in pain, you need a Dr. and staff that can relate to the fact that you need help. Dr. Mathes and his wife are great. They both work with their patients and get you taken care of as soon as possible. Now I do have to say, IF you call and get the ""blonde girl"" that works up front on the phone hang up. She is rude and not very considerate to the patients. My mother goes to the practice too and had the same experience with the individual. I have even seen her make a nasty face at another patient. The only reason I cannot give 4 stars is because of her. She must be another Doctors wife or something for them to continue to let her work there. ...read more
