After getting several ""word of mouth"" recommendations, we used Teamworks in Wake Forest for the training of our ""in-tact"", 170lb, English Mastiff puppy, Cash. He went for 3 weeks and was a little over 1 when he went, and 6 months later the time spent and work involved is still very evident.\t\n\t\nTeamworks sent weekly DVD's for us to view and it is amazing seeing the difference between the first and last video. \t\n\t\nExample of daily life: Prior to training, at the dog park we would have to either sneak up on Cash to leash him, or wait for him to tire out. Now, with a park full of dogs and people, Cash will come when called as I stand at the gate to leave.\t\n\t\nSince the training we have used Teamworks a few times for boarding and ""refresher"" courses and always walked away feeling the investment made our family a little happier, as we learn better ways to communicate with our dog each time.\t\n\t\nObviously I write this in response to the awful incident written below. Although I don't know Michele well, I know that she has to be beside herself with grief. Her life appears dedicated to the persistent cause of dog rescue, dog training, and continuing education in both forums.\t\n\t\nI don't know the details, nor do I need to know them. Even in the best case scenario, a dog of any breed still has primal instincts and with the exception of small breeds, if a dog on a leash wants to get loose, it will. \t\n\t\nMichele could be fully to blame, and even if that is the case, my faith dictates understanding of accidents and forgiveness for all.\t\n\t\nI will continue to use Teamworks and continue to recommend. \t\n\t\nI feel awful for all those involved, the families of both dogs, and Michele and staff at Teamworks.\t\n\t\nFeel free to email me directly for a more detailed account of our success at Teamworks:\t\nttaven3@gmail\t\nTodd ...read more

My friends little sheltie was attacked this week during a class. Each dog was suppose to have earned their canine good citzens to be involved in the class. It was her sheltie and a pit bull in the class. Without any warning, the pit, who was not on a control lease, and the sheltie was, attacked and horribly injuried the sheltie which had to be pulled by three people from the jaws of the pit bull. Sheltie unwent surgery and at present is laying and recovering with 4 inch drainage tubes in her chest. Teamworks failed to abide by it's own guidelines, failed to protect it's clients, and failed by allowing aggressive dog mixed in with other dogs. What now? What if a child had been in attendance? I have taken a number of classes with my dog at Teamworks and always had a great experience. Although all of the instructors were wonderful, Susan K. was by far the most helpful. (I took 3 classes with her and also got my friend to take one of the classes with me.) When we came to the first class, my dog would not listen to anything I said. Susan helped me to understand how a dog perceives things differently than a human and was beyond patient in working with us. Because of her, we passed the Good Canine Citizenship test with flying colors. Plus--no more jumping on people and chewing up my things!
