About Pinehurst, NC
Pinehurst is a village in Moore County, North Carolina. As of 2000, the population was 9,706. Pinehurst is a well known haven for golfers, and fans of the sport. The village is the location of the Pinehurst Resort, venue of the 1936 PGA Championship, and the 1951 Ryder Cup. It was the host site for the 1999 and 2005 US Open Golf Championships, and is set to be the site of the US Open once again in 2014. Pinehurst was also the former site of the World Golf Hall of Fame, now located in St. Augustine, Florida. Another great place to visit in Pinehurst is the Sandhills Horticultural Garden. Famous persons from Pinehurst include WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, and former ABC news anchor Bill Beutel.
